Overview: We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a diverse range of duties, including calculating and filing sales, excise, and motor fuel tax returns, preparing month-end account reconciliations, oversee fixed asset registers, managing real estate taxes, personal property declarations, and business licenses.
o Prepare sales, excise, and motor fuel tax returns in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
o Stay informed about changes in tax laws and ensure timely and accurate filings to minimize risks and penalties.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant financial data for tax reporting purposes.
o Prepare and reconcile general ledger tax accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness and investigate any discrepancies.
· Real Estate Taxes, Personal Property Declarations, and Business Licenses:
o Manage and coordinate the payment of real estate taxes, ensuring compliance with deadlines and regulations.
o Prepare and submit personal property declarations and business license renewals accurately and on time.
o Manage and prepare fixed asset registers for fleet, equipment, machinery and buildings.
o Oversee licensing, reporting, and analysis related to fixed assets for the company and coordinate with fleet operations to help maintain records.
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
· Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a similar role
· Experience with account reconciliations and motor fuel tax return filings.
· Strong understanding of tax regulations, accounting principles, and financial reporting.
· Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
