Location: Calgary, Edmonton, AB

Employment Type: Full Time - Permanent

Salary Range: SP4, Level 6, $116,960- $146,200 per year. The final compensation for this position will be determined based on individual factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

The Opportunity

If you are a technical individual with experience in Alberta’s in situ oil sands sector looking to make an impact on the way the AER regulates in situ projects the Senior Specialist, In Situ role might be the next career challenge you are looking for. The In Situ Applications Conformance team is looking for an ambitious and critical thinker to join its talented team of professionals and be a vital part of creating new and innovative techniques that will further incorporate the AER’s risk-informed and outcomes-focused objectives into our day-to-day decision making for the in situ sector.

You will have the opportunity to look at our decision making and application review processes holistically, identify possibilities for enhancement and lead and execute on projects that enhance the quality and improve the efficiency of our decisions. This will require interacting with a large suite of technical and regulatory professionals throughout the organization, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and mentoring staff.
