What We Are Looking For:

As a Senior Renewable Electrical Engineer at our Madison, WI, St. Paul, MN or Denver CO, office, your primary responsibility will be to assist in the delivery of multidisciplinary Energy Storage System (ESS) projects through their feasibility, pre-construction, and construction phases with a specific focus on the electrical design aspects of projects. What You Will Be Doing:

- Core Values: Embrace, uphold, and live out PSE’s core values around People, Problem-Solving, and Progress. - Design and engineer utility-scale PV solar systems, energy storage, and microgrid projects between 5MW and 100MW+ in size. Projects include both standalone storage and storage plus solar.

- Provide technical expertise and support in assisting clients in planning for integrating renewable energy resources.

- Maintain a vast knowledge of existing and emerging technologies in planning the grid of the future.

- Develop engineering construction documents.

- Develop detailed equipment specifications.

- Contribute to the continual development of internal distributed energy resource engineering standards, toolsets, and work processes.

- Coordinating project design assignments and design teams locally and with other office locations

- Travel to project sites from time to time to gather site-specific data, as required.

- Contributing to or writing technical papers and reports.

- Conduct system studies such as arc flash, load flow, short circuit, overcurrent coordination, ampacity, and grounding studies.

- Coordinate communication and provide status updates to stakeholders as required.

- Project Management responsibilities on small to large scopes projects.

- Assure quality in design work by developing and following internal QA/QC methods.

- Assist in providing leadership, development, and mentorship to new and junior engineering personnel.

- Manage existing client relationships. Assists in the development of new relationships and support retention of existing relationships.

- Helps execute department initiatives. Drive service offerings and project strategies. Assist in development of new service offerings & enhancing existing services.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with Power Systems Focus

- 3+ years’ experience working in the electrical engineering industry

- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) Certification Required

- PE (Professional Engineer) Licensure or the ability to get one within a reasonable time.

- Experience working in commercial & industrial electrical engineering a plus

- Master’s degree in electrical engineering a plus

- NABCEP certification or willingness to get one.

Knowledge and Skills

- Experience with AutoCAD, PVsyst, SKM, ETAP, SEL Relays.

- Experience with industry-standard design codes such as NEC, International Building Codes, International Fire Codes, and other standards relevant to the industry.

- Working knowledge of applicable NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards is highly preferred.

- Excellent written and verbal communication.

- Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources

- Possess the ability to achieve quality results, be change-oriented, foster innovation, and be a continuous learner.

- Possess the ability to continually identify and recommend process and/or system improvements to facilitate efficiencies.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to apply effective verbal and written communication skills when writing specifications, preparing technical reports, contributing to, or leading project team discussions

- Ability to travel as needed (up to 5%) for team meetings, client consultations, site assessments, and construction inspections – occasional overnight travel may be required.

Compensation:

- Salary Range: $96,142 - $121, 224 annually

This salary range reflects the anticipated base salary for three minimum relevant years of experience to seven maximum relevant years of experience. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with the candidate's relevant years of experience, education, and technical expertise.
