Serve as a member of the San Ramon, CA Substation group, responsible for managing relationships with alliance clients. This includes one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, development of substation equipment specifications, and construction cost estimates. This direction also includes relay schemes (SMP & Non SMP), AC/DC schematics, general arrangement, grounding, and conduit layout. The Senior Project Engineer, Team Lead conducts internal and external client, manufacturer, and contractor meetings, as well as performing quality reviews of engineering work for both internal assets and sub-contractors on assigned projects. This position manages/develops project proposals, bid preparations, project schedules, bill of materials, etc. for assigned Substation projects. They also prepare construction drawing packages. First point of contact for employees regarding low level scheduling issues, assigning tasks, and escalating personnel and/or performance issues to Supervisor. This Senior Project Engineer, Team Lead will have the following duties:
- Oversee project work of Design Team:
- Development of Project Scope / Scope Hardening
- Conceptual routes, layouts, preliminary and detailed designs, and specifications.
- Design Package Preparation, Transmittal / Submittal Issuance, Bill of Materials Preparation, Material Ordering, and Technical Design Clarifications with Client
- Prepare for and Host SWBD, FDR, IFA / IFC, OAI
- Calculation Review
- As-built Review / Revisions / Issuance
- Provide construction support
- Guidance and Understanding of Client Standards, Process, and Procedure
- Review and provide quality assurance for project engineering deliverables developed internally or by third parties
- Attend project site visits/walk downs
- Interface regularly with the client at their offices or in the field
- Support client’s project engineers as directed
Must have Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering, Civil engineering, Electronics engineering or closely related engineering field and 8 years of engineering experience involving Physical, Protection & Controls, or Civil/Structural Substation Design and 2 years working as a Project Engineer.

Eligible to telecommute 2 days a week from a home office within a reasonable commuting distance from the San Ramon, CA office.
Must be willing to travel 20% of the year within the United States for company projects and site visits.
