The Senior Procurement Associate is responsible for leading procurement activities related to materials, equipment, and services for natural gas operations. This role ensures cost-effective and timely sourcing while maintaining compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and internal policies. This role requires extensive experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiation, contract management, and procurement systems.
Typical job responsibilities of the Senior Procurement Associate include:
- Lead the end-to-end procurement process for critical OPEX, CAPEX, and some G&A categories
- Develop sourcing strategies aligned with operational needs and long-term project goals.
- Issue RFXs, evaluate supplier bids, and conduct commercial and technical bid evaluations with Operations.
- Establish, develop, and manage strategic supplier relationships.
- Negotiate terms, pricing, delivery schedules, and performance expectations.
- Conduct supplier audits and monitor vendor performance using KPIs and scorecards.
- Collaborate with legal, HSE, and technical teams to ensure risk mitigation and contract integrity.
- Maintain detailed records of supplier contracts, pricing, and performance.
- Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor market trends and price fluctuations in steel, gas equipment, and services.
- Contribute to annual budget planning and cost forecast activities.
- Support project teams in planning and executing procurement for capital and operational projects.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to avoid production delays.
- Resolve issues related to invoices, delivery discrepancies, or contract disputes.
- Standup and utilize ERP and procurement systems, such as Oracle, to manage POs, track spend, and report KPIs.
- Generate reports for management on procurement performance, savings, and risk exposure.
- Assist in physical inventory counts as needed
- Perform other duties as required.
- Advanced negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Strong knowledge of procurement best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in procurement systems (SAP MM, Ariba, Oracle) is a plus
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to cost, quality, and risk.
- Effective communicator, capable of cross-functional collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable speaking in front of audiences, including Executive Leadership Team.
- Experience in vendor management and contract negotiations are a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field is preferred.
- 7+ years of working for an Oil & Gas Operator is preferred.- Position located in downtown Denver, CO
- Indoor working environment that requires the ability to perform repetitive motions and operate standard office equipment.
- May occasionally be exposed to distracting noise while sharing office space with others.
