As a Senior Planning & Operations Specialist in R&D, you will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s financial planning, operational management, and communication with Headquarters (Korea) and regional operational leadership / support the US R&D team. The role requires strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of financial processes such as SG&A and CAPEX management.
1) Financial Planning & Forecasting Support
- Lead the preparation of annual and mid-term business plans (SG&A, and CAPEX investment) for the US R&D teams.
- Own monthly forecasting tasks for the US region, including data collection, trend analysis, and variance explanation.
- Prepare presentation materials for internal and HQ reporting.
2) SG&A and CAPEX Operational Support
- Own, track, monitor, and report SG&A expenses and CAPEX investments. Ensure data accuracy by verifying cost inputs and investigating variances.
- Provide regional leadership to ensure financial commitments are met. Partner with R&D leadership to understand missed commitments and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Provide analytical support for cost optimization and investment planning activities.
3) Executive & Stakeholder Communication
- Own financial/operational reporting for the US region and prepare summaries for executive-level meetings (both local and HQ).
- Liaise with HQ counterparts in Korea and Germany, ensuring timely information flow and accurate documentation (requires Korean proficiency).
- Manage monthly financial settlement processes for the US R&D team, including reconciliations and issue tracking.
- Collaborate with relevant departments (Accounting, Procurement, Facilities, etc.) to resolve operational discrepancies.
5) Data Analysis & Process Improvement
- Lead the development of US region operational KPI’s working with executive leadership. Maintain and update key performance dashboards; analyze operational KPIs.
- Lead process improvement initiatives for the US region and globally where feasible. Drive enhancements for efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
6) Administrative and Project Support
- Create documentation and tracking for service contracts, Delegation of Authority processes, asset disposal, and CAPEX review procedures as it relates to the US R&D organization.
- Coordinate tasks related to organization updates, KPI setting, and evaluation processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in business planning, finance, or operational management roles.
- Business-level English and Korean proficiency (reading, writing, speaking) required.
- Strong skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is a plus.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Organized, detail-oriented, with ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated individual who is effective at navigating and thriving in an environment with minimal oversight and changing priorities.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and globally.
- Experience in a multinational corporation or global business environment.
- Understanding of CAPEX and SG&A controlling processes.
- Experience with process improvement or project management activities.
