The Opportunity

The Senior Operations Engineer, NGL provides technical and operational support to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Wolf’s NGL assets, including recovery gas processing, NGL separation, pipelines and rail loading operations. This role acts as a key interface between Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Projects, and Commercial and is responsible for troubleshooting plant issues, optimizing performance, and supporting long-term asset integrity and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical support for daily operations, ensuring safe and efficient production

- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for operational upsets, equipment failures, and process safety incidents

- Monitor and optimize plant performance including inlet gas processing, refrigeration, cryogenic recovery, NGL separation (C2/C3/C4+), and associated utilities

- Identify and implement debottlenecking and process optimization opportunities to improve plant throughput, recovery rates, and energy efficiency

- Provide operational and engineering support for rail loading activities, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and commercial requirements; optimize loading efficiency and interface with commercial and logistics teams as needed

- Support and lead Management of Change (MOC) processes, including development of process design packages, risk assessments, and implementation oversight

- Review, approve, and stamp engineering drawings and technical documents in accordance with APEGA professional practice standards and Wolf’s Professional Practice Management Plan, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and fitness for purpose

- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on capital and sustaining projects, providing operations input into project development, design, commissioning, and startup

- Review and update operating procedures, PFDs/P&IDs, and process documentation

- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and operations staff

- Maintain compliance with Alberta regulatory requirements (AER, ABSA, OH&S), and internal standards related to pressure equipment, emissions, and process safety

- Support the development and tracking of KPIs for operational performance and reliability

- Participate in HAZOPs, PHA, LOPA and other process safety activities

- Lead and support risk management processes

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering

- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA (or eligible)

Experience:

- Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in operations engineering roles within gas plants, NGL facilities, gas/liquid pipelines or similar processing environments

- Strong understanding of cryogenic gas processing, liquid separation, heat integration, compression, and pressure equipment

- Experience with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ProMax) and data analysis platforms (e.g., PI, Excel VBA)

- Solid knowledge of Alberta regulatory environment (AER Directives, ABSA, CSA, etc.)

- Experience with turnaround planning and execution would be considered an asset

- Familiarity with control systems

Skills:

- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a high-pressure operational setting

- Strong safety mindset and familiarity with process safety and risk management principles

- Field presence required for operational support, troubleshooting, project implementation, and interface with site personnel

- Travel may include short-notice or extended trips during turnarounds, commissioning, or critical operations events

- Participation in after-hours or on-call support may be required depending on operational need

- Compliance with all site-specific safety protocols and use of appropriate PPE during field visits is mandatory

- Valid Class 5 Drivers License and satisfactory driver’s abstract
