The Senior Mechanic position troubleshoots mechanical, electrical & equipment issues with the generator fleet. Will perform daily, weekly & other routine preventative maintenance on all equipment. Documenting all completed work on a daily basis and monitoring use and inventory of parts & supplies.
- Trouble-shoot electrical components to include, ignition points, alternators, regulators, and solenoids.
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns and repair malfunctioning generator components; utilize measuring and testing instruments.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to avoid costly repairs and minimizing man power.
- Does all other related work as required to complete the job.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Five plus years directly related mechanical work experience.
- Complete a Construction Equipment and/or Generator Repair-related Course or equivalent.
- Knowledge of how engines work in conjunction with generators, hydraulic systems, transmission, and other parts and systems work.
- Ability to detect faulty items, determine cause of malfunction, and determine best repair methods. Ability to assemble, disassemble, repair, or modify components and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret parts lists, manufacturer's repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Thorough understanding of the principles of operation and required repairs of all components and sub-components to include, the Hull, Suspension, Track, Engine, Transmission, crane, winches, bucket trucks, digger derricks, aerial devices and sub-components.
- Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
- Working knowledge of requisitioning requirements utilizing appropriate equipment and special tools to complete repairs.
- Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, with air brake endorsement.
- Able to read/write and communicate effectively.
- Able to lift in-excess of 50 lbs.
- Willing to work overtime when requested.
- Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
