Senior Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Analyst

Summary

We are seeking a high-performing GIS Analyst with proven experience in the oil and gas industry. This role requires deep technical expertise in spatial data management, mapping, and application development using the ArcGIS platform. The ideal candidate is a results-oriented professional who thrives in customer-facing roles, collaborates across multidisciplinary teams, and delivers value through geospatial insights and automation.

Key Responsibilities

Spatial Data Management & Analysis

•

Manage geospatial datasets including well locations, pipeline networks, leases, and seismic data.

•

Conduct advanced spatial analysis and geoprocessing to support reservoir modeling, production forecasting, and compliance initiatives.

•

Perform data validation, georeferencing, and topological corrections to ensure integrity and accuracy.

Mapping & Visualization

•

Develop and maintain intuitive, data-rich visualizations through ArcGIS StoryMaps, dashboards, and 3D terrain models.

•

Produce high-impact maps to support asset team activities, land data management, and executive decision-making.

•

Identify use cases for application and capability development to enable new capabilities for business consumers.

GIS Application Development & Automation

•

Build custom automation workflows using Python (ArcPy) and ModelBuilder.

•

Develop Web GIS applications leveraging the ArcGIS JavaScript API and Experience Builder.

•

Enable mobile field solutions via ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123.

Stakeholder Support & Training

•

Deliver tailored training to cross-functional users (e.g., geologists, engineers, land professionals) on ArcGIS tools and workflows.

•

Serve as a trusted liaison between business units and IT, aligning GIS solutions with operational goals.

•

Provide Tier 1 support and ensure effective resolution of GIS-related issues.

Infrastructure & Integration Support

•

Collaborate with IT teams to manage on-premises or cloud-based ArcGIS environments (AWS/Azure).

•

Support integration with upstream platforms like SCADA, Kingdom, Petra and the enterprise data warehouse environment.

•

Contribute to GIS system security, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness.

Required Qualifications

•

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geosciences, Engineering, or a related field; GIS certification is a plus.

•

Minimum 7 years of progressive GIS experience in the oil and gas industry.

•

Proficient with the ArcGIS product suite, including ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online.

•

Applied experience in feature enablement, server management, and deployment scenarios with the ArcGIS platform.

•

Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and supporting cross-functional initiatives.

•

Strong programming skills in Python and experience with Web GIS development.

•

Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (e.g., PHMSA, BLM, OGA).

•

Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
