We are looking for a Senior Finance Manager to help manage and guide the finance department of CVE’s renewables projects and portfolio– greenfield and acquisitions, as well as dispositions - located in North America. You will also assist with CVE North America’s existing portfolio and as further described below.
You will be responsible for partnering closely with all key stakeholders in the project financings, both internal and external. Types of financings will include construction, tax equity, debt, sale-leaseback, mezzanine and preferred equity.
You will be involved across the entire life cycle of the financing of projects.
We are a small and energetic team which asks for constant adaptation and nimbleness. This role reports to the Director of Finance and Legal.
- Supporting the team with the project economics and financial models (with assistance from an analyst/associate in creating/modifying those models);
- Analyzing financial models and ensuring financial models are updated for new and existing projects, as well as acquisitions and divestitures.
- Analyzing variances towards budget and projections and suggesting corrective actions.
- Liaising with and partnering with legal, accounting, development, operations, contractors and other internal stakeholders to ensure new and existing projects are being managed and tracked correctly from a financial perspective.
- Communicating with, and building relationships with, new and existing financing sources.
- Coordinating with finance counterparts at CVE North America’s parent company as appropriate.
- Ensuring timely payments of suppliers and landowners and anticipating cash call needs.
- Assisting in preparation of investment committee review materials.
- Preparing and organizing the draw documents for project loans. Liaising with the external financial partners to communicate draw schedules and to track ongoing financing activity against project budgets.
- In collaboration with accounting, operations and construction, issuing the activity and progress reporting to our finance sources.
- Managing and ensuring the accuracy and exhaustivity of the database of contractual commitments, suggesting improvements to its functionalities; and
- Other matters consistent with the position and needs of CVE
You have 3 to 7 years in Project Finance acquired at a Renewable Energy Developer or Financier, bank, investment / private equity or credit fund, one of the Big 4 advisory teams or accounting firm. You have at minimum a U.S. college level Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
You are honest, well organized, rigorous and able to work independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects. You are proactive, curious and are not afraid of making mistakes or sharing ideas for continuous improvement. We are a team of less than [60] in CVE North America and being able to collaborate without ego as part of a team is critical.
Your attention to detail as well as your problem-solving skills are well honed. You are not only good at working with numbers but you also strive at making “figures speak” through clear and salient presentations. You have solid software skills including with powerpoint (or equivalent) and excel.
You are capable of working under tight deadlines, prioritizing your work and building processes/structure where it may not yet exist. You are comfortable with ambiguity and where you are valued for providing structure where it may be lacking. You are willing to join a company which sets for itself ambitious and captivating goals.
