POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will price estimates, manage bids, collaborate with clients, and mentor junior staff. A strong knowledge of structural steel and estimating software is essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Lead a team of estimators in preparing project pricing.
•Analyze Design Drawings and other Contract Documents to generate fabrication, materials, and labor estimates.
•Consult with clients, vendors and in-house personnel (in other departments) to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
•Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
•Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
•Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
•Review material and labor requirements, to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
•Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
•Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
•Establish and maintain tendering process and conduct negotiations.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform each essential duty daily.
Required:
•3+ years prior estimating experience
•Ability to lead others in a team environment and make decisions best suited for the project
•Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and BlueBeam
•Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to communicate with those at all levels.
•Possess strong documentation skills.
•Must be highly motivated and a self-starter.
•Possess analytical skills and math background.
Preferred:
•5+ years prior estimating experience.
•Experience with Tekla EPM or other estimating software.
•Experience with 3D modeling software (Tekla, Revit, Navis, SDS).
•Experience estimating steel erection and metals installation.
•College Degree in engineering, construction management or related field.
