Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our team. This role is critical in supporting our pre-construction efforts by producing accurate and competitive estimates across a wide range of residential, commercial, and public works projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction estimating, project analysis, and client engagement, with the ability to manage multiple complex bids simultaneously.
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with both new and existing customers, helping to drive repeat business and new project opportunities. A key part of this role involves analyzing construction plans and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates that include labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and overhead.
The successful candidate must have extensive knowledge in excavation, site work, civil construction, utilities, and be capable of performing accurate quantity take-offs directly from construction drawings. A high level of proficiency in reading, interpreting, and extracting data from construction plans and specifications is essential. You will also be expected to collaborate closely with project managers, field staff, and suppliers to ensure pricing accuracy and scope coverage.
This position requires hands-on experience with estimating software, particularly B2W Estimator, and a strong understanding of bid strategy and construction methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
•Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead.
•Analyze blueprints and specifications to determine project requirements and scope.
•Perform precise quantity take-offs based on construction drawings.
•Utilize estimating software tools such as B2W Estimator to create and manage estimates.
•Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
•Conduct cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle to ensure budget adherence.
•Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
•Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations to adjust estimates accordingly.
•Provide support during the bidding process by presenting estimates to clients and internal stakeholders.
•Maintain organized records of all estimates, contracts, and supporting documentation.
•Seek out and establish relationships with new customers while maintaining and strengthening existing client relationships.
Requirements
•Proven experience in construction estimating or a closely related field.
•Deep understanding of construction management principles and cost control methods.
•Ability to navigate and demonstrated knowledge of B2W Estimator software is required.
•Extensive knowledge in excavation, site work, civil construction, and utilities.
•Strong proficiency in performing take-offs and reading complex construction plans.
•Excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
•Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build lasting relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and customers.
•Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
•Knowledge of construction site operations and safety regulations.
•Effective written and verbal communication skills for internal coordination and client-facing presentations.
Compensation
Pay will be discussed during the interview and will be based on experience and qualifications.
