We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Project Manager with deep domain expertise in high-pressure gas transmission and distribution infrastructure.
The Senior Engineering Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end leadership and successful delivery of complex, multi-million-dollar capital projects involving natural gas transmission pipelines, compressor stations, meter & regulator stations, gas processing/treating facilities, and distribution system upgrades. This is a high-visibility role reporting to the Managing Director.
Responsibilities :
- Lead full life-cycle project management (feasibility, conceptual design, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction oversight, commissioning oversight, and close-out) for greenfield and brownfield gas infrastructure projects valued $2M–$150M+.
- Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules (Primavera P6 or MS Project), cost estimates (Class 1–5), risk registers, and resource plans.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, I&C, pipeline integrity, and environmental engineers as well as third-party EPC contractors.
- Ensure strict compliance with federal and state regulations including PHMSA 49 CFR Parts 192 & 195, FERC, CPUC/DPU (or applicable state PSC), EPA, and local permitting requirements.
- Oversee pipeline design and construction in accordance with ASME B31.8, B31.3, API standards, and company specifications (line pipe selection, wall thickness calculations, MAOP validation, hydrostatic testing, ILI/smart pigging programs).
- Direct compressor station projects (reciprocating and centrifugal units, gas cooling, filtration, dehydration, and fuel gas systems).
- Manage meter & regulator station upgrades, city gate stations, district regulators, odorization systems, and large commercial/industrial customer interconnections.
- Coordinate with client Gas Control, Operations, Integrity Management, Environmental, Land, Right-of-Way, and Public Affairs teams throughout project execution.
- Drive safety culture through HAZOP/LOPA, MOC processes, construction safety oversight, and adherence to company SMS (Safety Management System).
- Prepare and present project status, gate reviews, and funding requests to senior leadership
- Mentor junior project managers and engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering (PE registration strongly preferred).
- Minimum 10–15 years of progressive project management experience specifically in natural gas transmission pipelines and facilities (compressor stations, meter stations, processing plants, distribution mains & services).
- Proven track record of delivering $50M+ gas transmission pipeline projects (8–60+ inch diameter, Class 1–4 locations) and compressor station expansions on time and on budget.- Expert-level knowledge of PHMSA pipeline safety regulations (Part 192), Control Room Management, Integrity Management (IM), DIMP, MAOP reconfirmation, and recent Mega Rule requirements.
- Extensive experience managing EPC contracts (lump sum, unit rate, T&M), FIDIC/ConsensusDocs/AIA contract forms, and change management.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6, MS Project, SAP or similar ERP systems, and cost forecasting tools.
- Demonstrated experience obtaining FERC 7(c) certificates, state siting approvals, environmental permits (USACE 404, NPDES, air permits, etc.), and municipal franchise agreements.
- Strong commercial acumen – negotiation with landowners, suppliers, and contractors.
- Master’s degree or MBA
- PMP or similar project management certification
- Prior employment with a major gas transmission company (e.g., Kinder Morgan, Enbridge, TC Energy, Williams, Southern Star) or large LDC (SoCalGas, PG&E, Con Edison, National Grid, CenterPoint, etc.)
- Direct experience with hydrogen blending projects, RNG interconnections, or decarbonization-related initiatives
