Basic Purpose
Provides routine engineering support for Station Managers. Improves equipment and systems operating reliability and efficiency through consultation with operating representatives, contractors, equipment and product manufacturers and the application of Engineering principles. Provides betterment project cost estimates and economic analysis in order to optimize generation resources. Assists with generation resource planning and budgeting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Complies with all Generation Department operating and safety procedures.
Prepares annual budgets and spending requirements for maintenance and efficiency improvements of generation facilities.
Provides operating and maintenance standards to improve operating reliability and efficiency of generating facilities.
Coordinates project design with input from station representatives, contractors, and equipment suppliers, in order to provide functional and cost effective solutions for generating unit needs.
Inspects and evaluates generating equipment and process conditions, and prepares forward projections of operating and maintenance requirements to optimize production.
Where project oversight is given, assures that generation projects are functional, meet the intended design criteria, and are completed on schedule and within budget.
Provides training of operating and maintenance staff as needed at generating facilities.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5 years industry experience as a practicing engineer, and must be a licensed PE. If no PE license, then must have 8+ years as a practicing engineer.Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Excellent understanding of major power plant components, controls, and protection systems, root cause analysis, and risk.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. May require work near moving parts, in outdoor weather conditions, and near extreme heat. Some exposure to loud noises required. Some overnight travel required.
Annual Salary: $103,800 (Min) to $122,000 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
