The Senior Electrical Engineer will work with Oglethorpe Power's project management team to oversee the engineering, procurement, and construction of a new 1,500 MW combined cycle facility in Forsyth, Georgia. This will include reviewing design drawings, equipment, and system specifications, as well as work packages, installation plans, and delivery schedules for electrical equipment. As the project progresses, focus will shift to the review of inspection and testing of individual pieces of equipment and systems, culminating in plant start-up and commissioning.
This position will require coordination and communication with the turbine/generator OEM, Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors, Owner's Engineer, and OPC management. Input to weekly/monthly metrics and reporting will be required to support tracking of the project's budget and schedule.
Following commissioning of the new plant, the Senior Electrical Engineer will transition to the role of plant electrical engineer and have responsibility for a wide variety of duties. This will include planning major generator outages, design and selection of control systems, electrical inspections, NERC/SERC compliance, plant modifications, performance analysis, project management, as well as support for plant management and other Oglethorpe Power plants as needed.
- Electrical Engineering oversight during the construction and commissioning of a new combined cycle facility
- Monitoring equipment deliveries to ensure they will support the overall project schedule
- Providing input to the project schedule and attending project-related meetings
- Provide engineering support to ensure the Corporation's compliance with NERC Reliability Standards. This shall include technical evaluation of work required to comply with the Standards, performance and/or oversight of work required, evidence generation, procedure development, etc.
- Provide business, administrative, and technical support for plant managers and other personnel as neededEducation: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or engineering technology (preferably BSEE) - Technical and business knowledge of natural gas-fired combined cycle generating plant operation, performance, and economics.
Experience: This position is a Senior Engineer level position. 10+ years minimum engineering and five years minimum in an operating natural gas-fired combined cycle electric power generating plant is required, including planning, budgeting, preventive and predictive maintenance, and maintenance analysis.

Licenses, Registrations, and/or Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred and a valid driver's license that meets the insurance requirements under Oglethorpe Power's Drivers Qualification Program. Level II Thermographer or Level II Vibration Analyst certification desired.
