The Role
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience, particularly in substation design and high-voltage power systems. This role is for a technical leader who can drive engineering projects from start to finish, ensuring high-quality execution while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead engineering design for substations, protection & control systems, and power system infrastructure
•Act as the Lead Engineer on projects, taking full responsibility for project execution, technical decision-making, and client coordination
•Oversee engineering studies, design, equipment specifications, relay settings, protection schemes, and construction support
•Collaborate with project managers to ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery while maintaining technical excellence
•Review and approve engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards (IEEE, IEC, CSA, etc.)
•Support proposal development and provide technical input for bids and estimates
•Mentor and develop junior engineers to strengthen the firm's technical capabilities
What We’re Looking For
•10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on substations, power system design, protection & control, and industrial electrical projects, either in EPC or as Owner engineer
•Proven ability to lead engineering teams and drive projects from concept to completion
•Strong knowledge of power system analysis, relay coordination, grounding, and arc flash studies
•Proficiency with industry-standard software (ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD, etc.)
•Proficiency with EMT software (e.g. PSCAD) is a bonus
•Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Canada is required
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with clients, project managers, and cross-functional teams
•Experience working in large projects, with a solid understanding of procurement, construction, and commissioning
•Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment
