Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Senior Engineering Manager, the Senior Design Engineer is responsible for working on and leading large scale projects within the engineering team. Suggests product improvements, maintains knowledge of the products and their proper application. Keeps abreast of any technological changes which affect the company’s product. Collaborate with other departments within the plant and the R&D Lab.

What You'll Do:

•

Communicate and work with (lead & mentor) others in Design Engineering and other departments.

•

Lead strategic initiatives within the Design Engineering Department

•

Prepares reports for customers to communicate verification and validation activities related to new designs/changes/deviations.

•

Directly work with customers on new applications and designs.

•

Prepare or oversee the creation of accurate drawings of a new design.

•

Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

•

Acquire knowledge of the product and apply to specific applications.

•

Make calculations on tolerance stack-up of multi-component systems, apply and specify correct standards related to strength of materials, torque, fit, temperature, performance, etc.

•

Source and validate components or assemblies as required (working with test lab technicians).

•

Prepares bills of material for these product and engineering changes. Releases engineering change notices.

•

Performs assigned tasks related to engineering and drafting.

•

Uses 3D solids CAD software with finite element analysis tools for design & analysis of products.

•

Apply, recommend, and follow lean initiatives/practices.

•

Adheres to all safety rules and report questionable conditions to the department manager.

•

Expected travel 10% domestic, primarily to customers or other Regal facilities.

Requirements:

•

Willingness to work "hands-on" to build/create new things and to troubleshoot problems is a must.

•

The ability to read and interpret documents such as manufacturing drawings, general business periodicals, professional journals, safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, technical and procedure manuals, and government regulations.

•

Ability to effectively communicate and present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, managers, customers, clients, and the public.

•

Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

•

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, required.

•

10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering.

•

Manufacturing experience, preferred.

•

Proficient in the use of 3D modeling software (preferably Solidworks).

Expected Salary: $100,000 - 130,000 annually.
