About This Job

Visser Precision is a dynamic and innovative leader in advanced manufacturing services, dedicated to solving some of the world's most challenging engineering problems. The challenges we face are great, the problems complex, and the solutions often uncharted — but that’s where true innovation begins.

We seek individuals who are energized by adversity, who excel under pressure, and who are driven by a desire to achieve excellence in their craft. This is more than a job — it’s an invitation to be part of something extraordinary. Join us in pushing the boundaries of precision manufacturing and leaving your mark on the solutions to the world’s toughest engineering problems.

Position Overview

We are hiring a Senior CNC Machinist to join our elite manufacturing team. This role is for a highly skilled machinist with deep experience, precision craftsmanship, and the ability to lead by example. As a senior member of the shop floor, you will take on our most demanding projects, solve complex challenges, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with engineers, programmers, and fellow machinists to produce mission-critical parts to exact standards. This is not a programming role, but programming experience is a plus and there may occasionally be opportunities to assist with programming tasks.

Success in this position requires precision, discipline, resourcefulness, and a proactive mindset.

If you’re ready to leave your mark on high-stakes manufacturing and contribute to solving some of the toughest engineering challenges, we want you on our team.

Expected Outcomes:

CNC Machining Leadership

· Set up, make program adjustments, and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce high-precision parts. Lead by example in maintaining quality, efficiency, and discipline on the shop floor.

Mentorship & Collaboration

· Support and mentor less experienced machinists, sharing best practices and offering technical guidance to elevate team performance.

Advanced Problem Solving

· Independently troubleshoot complex setups, ambiguous instructions, or unclear drawings. Proactively find solutions that keep projects moving.

Adapt to evolving requirements by drawing on experience, technical knowledge, and critical thinking to find practical, effective solutions without waiting for perfect clarity.
Take initiative to ask insightful questions, seek guidance when necessary, and propose solutions that keep projects moving forward.

Precision & Quality Control

· Read and interpret complex technical drawings, set-up sheets, and GD&T requirements. Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools and ensure compliance with Visser’s stringent quality standards.

Confidence in Decision-Making Under Pressure

Make confident, informed decisions when immediate action is required, prioritizing safety, quality, and efficiency.
Balance precision with pragmatism to meet production goals, knowing when to escalate issues and when to take ownership of solutions.

Continuous Improvement & Efficiency

· Identify opportunities to improve machining processes, reduce cycle times, and enhance overall shop productivity.

Operational Excellence

· Perform routine machine maintenance, maintain a clean work environment, and adhere to all safety and quality protocols.

Contribution to a Culture of Excellence and Innovation

Embody Visser Precision’s core values of excellence, collaboration, curiosity, precision, and solutions-oriented thinking, actively contributing to the team’s mission to solve complex engineering challenges and push the boundaries of advanced manufacturing.

Expected Outcomes

Quick, flawless execution of complex multi-axis machining setups with minimal supervision.
Active contribution to reducing machine downtime and improving setup efficiency.
Consistent delivery of high-quality parts that meet or exceed specifications.
Demonstrated leadership in problem-solving, training, and cross-functional collaboration.
A positive, solutions-oriented attitude that enhances Visser Precision’s culture of excellence.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in CNC machining or a related field is preferred.
8+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, or high-precision industries.
Strong proficiency with CNC mills, lathes, precision measuring instruments, and GD&T.
Proven ability to handle complex multi-axis setups and independently troubleshoot machining challenges.
Programming experience is a plus. While this is not a programming role, there may occasionally be opportunities to support programming activities.*
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy machinery.
Comfortable working within an AS9100 quality management system
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (ITAR compliance).
