As a Senior Civil Structural Engineer, you will join our Engineering Services team to support project work at our refinery in Saint John, NB, along with our network of marine terminals. Your goal will be to meet or exceed required codes for your civil and structural areas of responsibility. Your success will be in the solutions and recommendations you provide for any new installations and/or required modifications.

Your Responsibilities
•Supervise and develop junior team members including engineers, technicians, and technologists
•Review and approve the work of others including designs, calculations and cost estimates, and coach as required
•Act as technical advisor on the implementation of project plans working closely with other Engineering Disciplines, Project Execution, Construction, and other cross-functional teams
•Independently make decisions that impact the business line
•Analyze and engineer different types of structures (reinforced concrete and structural steel) and foundations to ensure adequate strength and serviceability
•Assess loads based on building codes and/or industry practices, structural analysis (often using 3D structural analysis software, manually or using various engineering templates)
Your Skills
•Excellent communication skills, coordinating, leading and directing other engineering employees and project members
•Ability to make binding decisions on technical matters of consequence once having reviewed numerous proposals
•Knowledgeable about structural engineering software, e.g. RISA-3D
•Strong knowledge of established codes, standards, and best practices for refining operations
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Your Experience
•University degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
•Minimum 8-12 years experience in engineering discipline, organizational experience, and experience at a leading engineering level, preferably in a refinery environment
•P.Eng. certification is required
