East Bay Municipal Utility District’s (EBMUD’s) Wastewater Process Engineering and Asset Management group is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer who is motivated, energetic, innovative, a team player, a strong project manager, with excellent writing and verbal skills, and is well experienced in wastewater process, operations, and maintenance engineering. In this role, the successful candidate will supervise an engineering section that leads process area teams who conduct sophisticated wastewater treatment plant optimization projects involving innovative treatment processes or process modifications, automated process monitoring and control systems, state-of-the-art data handling technologies, and process computer modeling. Other assignments may include leadership/support for wastewater treatment-related research.
The most competitive candidates will possess significant knowledge of wastewater process engineering principles, sanitary engineering, chemistry, and microbiology; proper conduct of engineering studies; wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance; project management principles and practices; excellent analytical, problem solving, and critical reasoning skills; and work extremely well with others. Experience will include success in managing multi-discipline wastewater process engineering projects, writing technical reports, and preparing and delivering technical presentations.
The salary range is $15,629 per month increasing to $16,410, $17,231, and $18,093 after 6, 18, and 30 months, respectively.

1. A bachelor’s degree in an ABET-accredited civil engineering curriculum OR a California EIT Certificate.
2. Two years of professional civil/sanitary engineering experience of a type and level comparable to or higher than EBMUD’s Associate Engineer classes (equivalent to six years of professional engineering experience, subsequent to obtaining the engineering degree); and
3. California registration as a Professional Civil Engineer.
4. Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
