The
Benefits Program Specialist is responsible forsupporting our Health and Welfare programs for active employees and retirees. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate across departments and vendors, ensuring seamless benefits administration and exceptional service delivery.
Key Responsibilities Include: Employee & Retiree Support
- Provide expert assistance to employees and retirees enrolled in the Health and Welfare Program. Partner with vendors to resolve benefit-related issues and ensure accurate HRIS/Payroll file transfers and employee deductions.
- Serve as a secondary point of contact for HR representatives at TEMU and Hutchinson affiliates, offering guidance and support for benefits-related inquiries.
- Lead the development and execution of annual enrollment campaigns and ongoing benefits communications for employees. Create and manage retiree communications for the in-house Retiree Health Plan.
- Compile retiree medical and life insurance data for Welfare Plan Valuation and annual Form 5500 filings. Coordinate and verify ACA Form 1095 reporting.
- Disability Program Administration
- Support the Long-Term Disability program, ensuring compliance with company policies. Assist affiliate HR teams with disability-related concerns.
- Coordinate data collection for the annual Total Rewards Statement. Complete industry benefit surveys to benchmark our offerings against competitors.
- Update Summary Plan Descriptions, SBC Notices, and New Hire Orientation materials annually to reflect current health and welfare benefits
- Bachelor’s degree in a HR or business-related discipline required - 3+ years' experience with health and welfare administration preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and UKG required
- Strong organizational, and communications skills
- Strong customer-service orientation, detail-orientation and multi-tasking abilities on multiple projects.
- Good knowledge of legislation affecting benefit plans (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Section 125 and ACA requirements)
