The Doe Run Company is seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist to provide for the needs of Central & BRRD laboratory related to the use of sound laboratory practices and methodologies to generate reliable analytical results that are used to control processes, provide confidence & environmental compliance. This position is located at our Quentin J Schmidt in Viburnum, MO.
- Evaluate, modify, and develop laboratory methods.
- Leading and initiating projects.
- Identify laboratory problems & develop solutions.
- Oversee the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
- Identify issues with documented procedures, analyze data for accuracy, and provide recommendations to improve QAQC.
- Draft and modify standard operating procedures.
- Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or related field; Master’s Degree in Chemistry preferred
- 7 years of related experience required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc..), Databases, and ERP (Peoplesoft)
- Strong analytical thinking skills & attention to detail
- Proficient knowledge of quality control standards
- Strong ability to prioritize, multitask, and troubleshoot problems
- Frequently required to use a computer. Occasionally required to use a phone. Rarely required to use hand tools (powered and non-powered) and personnel carriers.
- Frequently exposed to extreme heat (non-weather). Occasionally exposed wet, humid conditions (non-weather), outdoor weather conditions, and required to wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to, a respirator, hearing protection, foot protection and eyewear. Rarely exposed to vibration, extreme cold (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, and work at heights greater than 4 feet. Moderate noise exposure.
- Regularly required to hear, feel attributes of objects, grasp, and reach. Frequently required to talk, sit, stand, walk, and perform repetitive wrist, hand, and/or finger movement. Occasionally required to push and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Rarely required to drive or climb. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, and ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequently required to lift up to 5 pounds. Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds. Rarely required to lift up to 100 pounds.
