The Opportunity
Our South Bow Controller team is looking to add a Financial Accountant in Calgary to support Internal and External Reporting for South Bow, including the Company’s marketing accounting function. This position will report to the Manager, Internal and External Reporting.
The
Senior
Accountant – Marketing
will play a pivotal role in supporting the external financial reporting of South Bow. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Accountant to support the month end close processes for the Marketing business and other internal and external reporting projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing month end close entries and schedules for public company reporting in compliance with US GAAP. This role provides the opportunity to contribute to the external reporting process, analysis of results and other ad hoc projects.
What You Will Do•Perform month-end close process for the Company’s marketing activities including but not limited to, mark-to-market accounting, accruals, inventory valuation, and intercompany eliminations
•Ensure proper documentation and reconciliations of financial transactions in accordance with internal controls and US GAAP
•Support the preparation of the quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A under US GAAP and other regulatory filings including statutory audits
•Perform variance analysis of accounting results and investigate differences for internal results meetings. Assist with preparation of internal results for senior management against actuals and forecast
•Work closely with auditors to support the external annual audit process and other statutory audits
•Contribute to the building of processes relating to external & internal reporting and internal controls
•Collaborate with various teams and stakeholders to ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting and analysis
•Ensure adherence to all internal controls and corporate governance policies
•Participate in cross-functional projects and special initiatives as needed
Minimum Qualifications
•Minimum 5 years of experience with accounting, month end close, journal entries, financial reporting, auditing, or a related role, preferably in the midstream/energy industry
•University degree in Business, Commerce, or a related field
•Legally authorized to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
Additional qualifications would be considered an asset:
•Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
•Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and OneStream
•Experience with public company reporting and US GAAP
•Self-motivated with a strong analytical skill set and desire to learn and enhance processes
•Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
•Attention to detail with the ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines with multiple priorities
•Continuous improvement mindset for reporting and internal controls processes
