The Senior Accountant and Financial Analyst
serves as a key member of the Finance Team. The position is responsible for various financial tasks including creating and posting journal entries, general ledger account reconciliation and analysis, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, financial reporting and analysis, and fulfilling various internal and/or external requests.
Major Responsibilities
- Actively participates in month-end close processes by accurately and timely preparing account analysis/reconciliation and related journal entries for key account areas including, but not limited to: Commissions, Marketing, and Sales Programs.
- Prepares bridges and other analysis for monthly financial presentations, including analysis/comparison to various targets (prior year, budget, forecast).
- Analyzes and reports on business group income statements at both a product and channel level, especially relating to margin analysis.
- Prepares and presents sales office specific monthly reporting.
- Summarizes and analyzes business group Primary Working Capital and Free Cash Flow.
- Analyzes changes in inventory standard costs impacting the business group.
- Analyzes allocations of freight expense and COGS Variances to the business group.
- Analyzes concessions expense and other expenses as assigned from time to time
- Reviews corporate calculations/allocations for the business group of inventory balances, returns reserves, and inventory reserves.
- Accumulates data from various sources and compiles into monthly reporting for PEP (Profitability Enhancement Program).
- Submits monthly payment requests regarding Commissions.
- Frequent and significant ad-hoc analysis and modeling to support decision-making and facilitate achievement of business goals.
- Assists with special projects.
- Works cross-functionally with business group and corporate teams to analyze key financial transactions and processes and actively participates in process improvements.
- Prepares and/or maintains documentation of current processes and procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
- 5 years related experience in an accounting/finance role
- Knowledge of databases and general ledger accounting applications/ERP systems
- Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley, GAAP and FASB
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills with the ability to create and maintain complex Excel models
- Excellent analytical skills
- Goal-oriented and able to meet aggressive deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and with a diverse group of people
Preferred Job Requirements
Certification / LicenseCertified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA)

- Experience with SAP
- Experience with OneStream or similar consolidation software
- Cost accounting experience
Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in South Burlington, VT is $78,200 - $100,000.
This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.
