As a Senior Account Representative, you will focus on early-stage project development within the electricity distribution and transmission space. Your role begins at the conceptual phase of projects and continues through development. Once a project enters execution, your involvement transitions to support mode. You will play a key role in identifying new opportunities, analyzing feasibility, developing financial models, and preparing the groundwork for successful customer and project engagement.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in strategic front-end engagement and in energized by creating new business pathways.
- Lead early-stage engagement for new distribution and transmission projects, supporting commercial, municipal, and industrial customers from initial inquiry to project execution.
- Prepare structured issue briefs for initiatives such as industrial parks, data centers, or distribution system acquisitions to evaluate potential, identify barriers, and propose paths forward
- Perform financial modeling and economic evaluations to assess project feasibility and inform business cases.
- Lead or support the development and negotiation of customer agreements, including contributions to service terms, regulated and non-regulated service offerings, and pricing strategies.
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams (e.g. Engineering, Regulatory, Finance) to support project planning, capital forecasting, and execution readiness.
- Support analysis related to Rural Electrification Association (REA) strategy and potential acquisitions by providing financial and operational insights
- Provide back-end support to the System Development & Strategy team by assisting with the management of Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) contracts, market participant obligations, and system access service financials.
- Contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of the team’s business and project development strategy, considering policy, economic, and regulatory shifts
- Assist in advancing key account strategies while supporting escalations and resolving complex customer inquiries when needed.
- Degree or diploma in business, engineering, or a related field
- Professional Designation (CPA, CFA, P.Eng) is an asset
- Experience with financial modeling
- 5–7 years of experience in a combination of:
- Contract administration or financial reporting
- Utility, energy, or municipal services
- Customer account management
- Project coordination or business support
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with regulatory environments is an asset
- Exceptional communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders
- Class 5 driver’s license
