Job Purpose
The Non-Ferrous Division Scale Operator is responsible for performing a variety of duties including purchasing various incoming, non-ferrous metals brought in by customers, sorting and putting non-ferrous metals into various commodity boxes and maintaining a clean safe work area for customers and employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Obtains required information from customers for all transactions, completes required purchasing and shipping documents, and conducts daily reconciliations.
•Collect paperwork, weights, and load information, and record into database.
•Reviews all documents to ensure regulatory and company requirements are met.
•Heavy data entry and clerical
•Provide exceptional customer service through greeting and directing all customers upon entry of the landfill.
•Verify incoming loads are safe and do not contain unacceptable material.
•Ensure that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
•Provide general upkeep of the scale house.
•Occasionally answers the phone.
•Work in a team environment and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and communication.
•Follow all safety practices including proper use of personal protective equipment.
•Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
•2 years’ cash handling and direct customer service experience in a fast-paced environment.
•High School diploma: college degree preferred.
•Basic math, account reconciliation, computer, and data entry skills.
•Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with customers.
•Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
•Flexible to work off hours, weekends and holidays in an industrial environment which includes being outdoors in all weather conditions.
•Basic computer knowledge for work related purposes.
