Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide support on critical SCADA application and operations. This is accomplished by performing technical work for the operation, performance, and maintenance of the DTM Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. The SCADA Developer will provide general system administrative support in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required. This will include Control Room Human Machine Interface (HMI), Operator Interface Terminal (OIT), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA Historians, Databases, and Remote Alarm Systems.


Key Accountabilities

Conducts analysis, design, evaluation, modification, testing and implementation of Aveva Enterprise SCADA system software, equipment, components and assets.
Meets business requirements by developing and implementing SCADA developments and integrations between SCADA and PLC systems.
Integrate SCADA with PLCs/RTUs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Emerson ROC, SCADA Pack) using OPC-UA, MQTT, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP protocols.
Configure alarm management, historian logging, and real-time dashboards for field assets and control centers.
Building/developing HMI screen and modifying database points
Develops test plans and protocols for evaluation of system performance. Conducts analysis of systems specifications and uses the latest analysis/diagramming tools to represent business/technical processes.
Take the lead in troubleshooting SCADA network communication problems.
Maintain, analyze, and improve network system performance to ensure proper network system operation and security.
Set-up Ethernet networks, computers and other HMI (Human Machine Interface) equipment for communication with field equipment using established industrial protocols.
Program, install, and test switches, routers, modems and other network equipment.
Deploy system patches and firmware updates.
Ensure systems are compliant with cybersecurity and regulatory requirements (e.g., API 1165, NIST, PHMSA).
Program PLCs for both control and process information gathering and reporting.
Develop, and update, equipment databases, software licenses, device applications and configurations.
Develop and implement methods for backing all systems including PLCs to maintain a current library of all custom applications, and ensure all data is retrievable.
Train technicians & operations staff in operation and maintenance of SCADA and PLCs.
Support field commissioning and remote troubleshooting, working closely with field technicians and operations staff.
Ensure systems are compliant with cybersecurity and regulatory requirements (e.g., API 1165, NIST, PHMSA).
Maintain clear technical documentation, user manuals, and change logs.
May perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science or equivalent
3 years of job-related experience including PLC Programmer/SCADA Developer (for Level II); 6 years of job-related experience including PLC Programmer/SCADA Developer (for Level III)
Proficiency in Python scripting, SQL, and relational databases


Preferred:

Aveva Enterprise SCADA experience
Experience in IIoT architectures in oil & gas.
Understanding of pipeline SCADA and leak detection systems.
Exposure to cloud or hybrid SCADA systems (e.g., AWS, Azure IoT, Ignition Cloud Edition).


Other Requirements

Familiarity with Pipelines and terminology (e.g., Gathering, compressor stations, measurement, metering)
Experience with remote SCADA access, cellular/radio communications, and telemetry systems
Working knowledge of SCADA system security, including user roles, SSL, and secure data transport
Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments
