We are seeking a
Logistics Supply Chain Manager
to oversee and optimize our relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and carriers. This role is critical to ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions across markets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for rate negotiations, performance management, and market intelligence, while also contributing to strategic decisions about when to invest in internal logistics capacity versus outsourcing. This role will also be responsible for working with internal customers to aggregate and organize demand in a manner that integrates well into the supply chain strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
Carrier & 3PL Management
•Lead negotiations with carriers and 3PLs to secure competitive rates and favorable terms.
•Monitor and manage carrier performance using KPIs, SLAs, and regular business reviews.
•Develop and maintain strong relationships with key logistics providers to ensure service reliability and scalability.
•Resolve service failures or disputes swiftly and effectively.
Market Intelligence & Pricing Strategy
•Use market intelligence tools to track and analyze transportation pricing trends, capacity shifts, and regional dynamics.
•Produce regular reports and insights on market evolution to inform procurement and operational decisions.
•Stay informed on freight indices, fuel surcharges, regulatory changes, and other factors impacting logistics pricing.
Cost Modeling & Internal Capacity Planning
•Build and maintain cost models for onboarding company-owned trucks, drivers, and contracting owner-operators under our DOT authority.
•Analyze the total cost of ownership vs outsourcing across different markets.
•Support capital investment decisions and workforce planning related to logistics insourcing.
•Partner with finance and operations to forecast ROI and breakeven points for fleet expansion or owner-operator growth.
Required Qualifications:
•5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, preferably with exposure to both 3PL and asset-based operations.
•Experience with developing and implementing new standard work across large organizations, including a degree of comfort with specifying the technical requirements for new systems or tool features.
•Proven track record of negotiating with carriers and managing performance metrics.
•Strong analytical skills with experience in cost modeling, budgeting, and business case development.
•Proficiency with logistics market intelligence platforms (e.g., DAT, FreightWaves, Truckstop.com, etc.).
•Knowledge of DOT compliance and operating models for company-owned and leased fleets.
•Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in multi-modal transportation (e.g., FTL, LTL, drayage).
•Prior experience working in or with fast-growing logistics networks.
•Familiarity with freight brokerage workflows.
Familiarity with TMS platforms and data analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel modeling).
