Job Description:

The Rigging Engineer works within the Technical Services Department to support Crane and Rigging Construction activities, solving complex problems while working within the appropriate guidelines and policies.


Job Overview:

Provide technical support, review, and approve critical risk-heavy lifting and transportation operations.


Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Support all aspects of the rigging department.

- Manage, forecast, and develop lift plans, approve moderate risk lifts, verify and approve critical lifts, perform heavy haul coordination, determine crane configurations, and rigging design.

- Coordinate between Engineering and Construction to ensure proper sequence is maintained, and obstructions are recognized.

- Strong Teamwork mentality.

- Coordinate the work activities of all involved crafts within a discipline during the entire construction effort, if required.

- Assist the project team by providing input to identify key success factors, timing of design and procurement deliverables, and establishing common work breakdown structures.

- Provide leadership to the creation of organizational structure and processes required to execute the requirements of services fully, and is responsible for the execution of rigging services, quality, subcontractor performance, and construction cost.

- Evaluate rigging service execution for compliance with contract, design data, schedule, cost budgets, and quality, advising the project team of status, issues, impacts, risk, and cost influence factors on “to go” scope.

- Ensure that company objectives, policies, programs, and procedures are consistently adhered to.

- Follow Industry Standards and Norms while conducting all work scopes.

- Ensure the maintenance plan for all departmental equipment is followed.

- Adopt company health, safety, and environmental programs and ensure their implementation.

- Study production schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job assignments.

- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality, and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.

- Ensure that all department housekeeping duties are completed.

- Analyze and resolve work problems and or assist foremen in solving daily work problems.


Essential Qualifications and Education:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., civil, mechanical, or structural).

- Certification in rigging and heavy haul operations (e.g., Certified Rigging Technician, Certified Heavy Haul Specialist).

- Strong understanding of engineering principles, load calculations, and rigging techniques.

- Experience with Navisworks to utilize the 3D model.

- Proven experience in planning and executing large-scale heavy haul and rigging projects.

- Excellent project management skills, including planning, coordination, and problem-solving.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

- Self-motivated, self-reliant, and able to operate independently, while exercising good independent judgment and decision-making.

- Ability to work with Engineering to develop the “Right Plan” for ALL Lifting scenarios.

- Ability to set up, coordinate, and control multi-crane lifts.

- Ability to understand detailed engineering/fabrication drawings.

- Knowledge of ALL BTH lifting tools and equipment.

- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and requirements as they pertain to rigging.

- Planning & scheduling knowledge and the ability to liaise with other crafts and disciplines effectively.

- Coordinate with the Completions Manager on discipline activity.

- Coordinate with Site QA/QC Manager on final inspection and punch list, red-line drawings to show as-built conditions; perform engineering activities to develop/complete design; prepare/answer Request for Information and Field Work Order Requests.

- Supervise the Site Document Management Department and ensure that project personnel adhere to correspondence and filing system guidelines.

- Facilitate preparation of drawings for special construction equipment, scaffolds, workstations, and construction aids.

- Arrange for procurement, fabrication, and installation of the required items.

- Manage Engineering support on the site through the Project Manager at the home office.

- There will be specific times that Engineering support will be required on the site to assist in acceptance or checkout.

- Manage all correspondence concerning questions or issues between Engineering and Construction through a Request for Information (RFI) system for document tracking and control.

- Close out all RFIs and incorporate them into the turnover systems for care and custody of the Client.

- Capture progress daily in Work Face Planning software from information provided by Foremen/General Foremen.

- Analyze daily progress and schedule performance.

- Conduct weekly planning meetings with their Superintendents to determine work to be executed in the upcoming three weeks.

- Generate weekly work plans on an IWP level with General Foremen/Superintendents’ direct input and record them in the Work Face Planning system.

- Request material by submitting WRFIs by IWP to material management before the execution date and track material delivery.

- Interface with the Construction Supervisor, Project Controls, and subcontractors to facilitate updates to the 3 WLA and WWP.

- Record and communicate Lessons Learned captured on IWPs.
