Summary
Oversees the operation of drilling site(s), including running the drilling rig(s), directing and supervising the driller(s), delegating responsibilities and tasks and ensuring rig(s) is/are kept in an operable condition in a manner to achieve optimal safety, efficiency, quality, reliability, staff morale and teamwork by performing the duties listed in the following section.
This is a manual labor, physically intensive position with repetitive tasks. All employees of Weisinger Incorporated must agree to perform work out of town or at night, on the weekends and on holidays with short notice and for an extended period as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following list includes essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. Perform all activities in accordance with all policies, principles, and procedures established by Department, Division and Weisinger Inc. Management and Board of Directors.
•Responsible for ensuring that crew(s) review basic maintenance and perform regular maintenance of all parts of the drilling rig and supporting equipment before, during and after shift. Areas to review include but are not limited to mud tanks, mud pump, draw works, dog house, engine, handling tools and supporting equipment (including crew truck, forklift, gravel machine, etc).
•Responsible for ensuring all assigned vehicles, equipment and tools in operable condition. Immediately report all maintenance issues to manager, which includes asking to have broken tools repaired/replaced. Discontinue use of broken items, and dispose of broken tools that cannot be repaired.
•Operate vehicles and comply with all Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
•If employee maintains a commercial driver’s license, complete driver vehicle inspection reports before and after operating commercially regulated vehicles. Submit inspection reports after each shift. It is the employee’s responsibility to review weight limits and monitor hours of service for compliance.
•Operate supporting equipment such as the crew truck, fork lift and gravel machine.
•When moving equipment, observe job site and assist as needed to prevent damage and destruction of equipment or property.
•Directly supervise pump rig operators and department staff, which includes but is not limited to resolving minor personnel issues independently, resolving other personnel issues with operations manager jointly, assisting with hiring process and reviewing performance of drillers and rig hands.
•Provide customer service and resolve customer issues while staying in communication with the drilling operations manager.
•Operate cutting torch as needed.
•Use handling tools such as tongs and wrenches as needed.
•Ensure that all tools, spare parts, equipment, materials, and supplies are stored and cared for.
•Ultimately responsible for basic housekeeping including disposing of garbage and organizing job site, crew truck and employee lockers before, during and after shift.
•Assist with diagnosing problems with mud pump and completely rebuild as needed.
•Ultimately responsible for maintaining at least one full set of spare parts for the mud pump at all times.
•Ensure that the crew(s) implement(s) the drilling fluid program as planned.
•Ensure that crew(s) follow(s) all safety regulations, policies, principles, and procedures.
•Use all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
•Immediately notify supervisor about injuries to self or crew members.
•Display willingness to learn about overall drilling operations and encourage similar attitudes with crew members. Mentor and train crew members to learn the operation of the drilling department.
•Accurately complete Daily Drilling Reports and submit to Drilling Operations Manager before the end of the day.
•Must carry Weisinger Incorporated-issued cell phone and be readily available to report to work as needed at all times.
•Perform other duties as assigned, which may include working in other roles or in another department as needed.

Education and/or Experience
•High School Diploma, GED equivalent or applicable experience
•5 years minimum experience or demonstrated mastery in a water well driller position
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
•Valid Texas Driver’s License
•Possess or be willing and able to obtain a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Water Well Driller’s License
•Class A Commercial Driver’s License preferred
Language Skills
•Ability to speak, write, read and understand English for basic job function
