About The Energy Authority

The Energy Authority is a public power-owned, nonprofit corporation with offices in Jacksonville, Florida, and Bellevue (Seattle), Washington. TEA provides public power utilities with access to advanced resources and technology systems so they can respond competitively in the changing energy markets. Through partnership with TEA, utilities benefit from an experienced organization that is singularly focused on deriving the maximum value of their assets from the market.

Join Our Team as a Resource Planning Analyst!

At TEA, our Corporate Analytics team brings together diverse backgrounds and expertise to solve some of the most complex challenges in today’s energy markets. We’re looking for a motivated, self-driven individual to join us as a Resource Planning Analyst. In this role, you’ll work on high-impact projects—primarily Integrated Resource Plans (IRPs)—that shape the mid- to long-term portfolio strategies of utilities across the U.S. Whether you’re developing and maintaining capacity expansion and production cost models, analyzing study results to inform critical decisions, or building relationships with clients, your work will directly support the energy transition happening across U.S. markets. If you’re excited by technical problem-solving, market modeling, and creating innovative solutions that make a real difference, this role offers the opportunity to shine.

What You’ll Do

- Develop and maintain production cost models for market/regional and portfolio-specific capacity expansion studies

- Build and maintain in-house applications and data pipelines using R, Python, SQL, Excel/VBA, and more to process and analyze study results

- Provide detailed statistical and analytical insight into results to help clients build actionable strategies

- Forecast nodal/zonal energy prices for RTO and bilateral markets across short- and long-term horizons

- Evaluate the impact of market design changes, generation retirements, new builds, load changes, and transmission expansion

- Scope projects, prepare and lead client presentations, and communicate results clearly to stakeholders

- Review and refine model inputs such as fuel price forecasts, market prices, long-term load forecasts, and transmission assumptions

- Collaborate with the resource planning team to write reports and deliver clear, actionable recommendations

- Share industry knowledge, best practices, and innovative solutions to strengthen TEA’s approach to resource planning

What You Bring

- Strong understanding of production cost modeling and market simulation software (e.g., PLEXOS, AURORA, PROMOD, Dayzer)

- Solid foundation in energy industry fundamentals, bilateral and RTO markets, and finance/business analysis

- Strong MS Office skills, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences

- Familiarity with basic statistics and probability

Bonus Skills (or willingness to learn):

- Experience with object-oriented programming languages (R, Python, etc.)

- Database programming and query capability

- Comfort working with large datasets, developing visualization tools, and extracting insights

Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, sciences (math, physics, chemistry, etc.), computer science, finance, economics, or a related field

- 3+ years of relevant industry experience working with utilities on resource planning projects (5+ years preferred)

Why You’ll Love This Role

This is a highly visible role where your contributions will directly influence long-term planning for U.S. utilities and play a part in the evolving energy landscape. You’ll have the chance to grow your technical skills, build deep market knowledge, collaborate with talented teammates, and partner with utilities as they navigate the energy transition.

a team where every contribution matters, apply today to make your impact as an Energy Scheduler at TEA.
