Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Rad Protection & Safety Tech.

Reporting to the Manager, Radiation Protection Field, this position is responsible to provide technical expertise in health physics, radiation protection, and workplace safety, including interpreting relevant legislation and procedures, and operating assigned equipment as required. Health physics activities include dosimetry measurements, radioactivity analyses, and sample collection, with work assignments made in accordance with Article 8 of the Collective Agreement.

- Develop and implement new testing procedures and methods for radiological and dosimetry analyses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standards.

- Support line management in executing health physics, radiation protection, health and safety, and emergency preparedness programs at both local and corporate levels.

Collect, compile, and assess data to prepare technical, regulatory, and incident reports as required.

- Operate, inspect, maintain, and perform basic repairs on assigned health physics, radiation protection, and safety equipment and systems.

- Establish and maintain technical specifications for instruments, computer hardware, and software; order, install, commission, and troubleshoot equipment as necessary.

- Develop and maintain reporting systems and computer applications for tracking work, materials, costs, and analytical results, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.

- Conduct field inspections, industrial hygiene sampling, and compliance surveys for hazards such as radiation, chemicals, noise, air quality, and other workplace and environmental risks.

- Provide technical expertise, interpret health and safety legislation, participate in investigations, and support the development and implementation of radiation protection and safety programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 3 Years of Study in a Related field or successfully completed and passed the NRRPT.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
