About This Job


Job Purpose

Note: We are looking for many Quality Control Inspectors to support our work across the USA

Quality Control Inspectors shall ensure that projects are safe and achieve the quality requirements during each job phase of a Champion (CPSSC) project. In construction, the quality requirements are established by the contract documents such as plans & specifications.

Project phases such as Preparatory, Start-Up, Production and Completion shall be observed by the QCI to ensure that our Quality Management System (QMS) is in coordination and cooperation with the entire project team to ensure that CPSSC work activities are performed:


- In a Safe work environment

- According within the defined scope, plans and specifications


- Within a defined budget

- On time – within the defined scheduled critical path or milestone activities

Proper execution of project specific work plans including Quality and Safety will increase profit and production through improved planning, communication, and client satisfaction for future contracts.


Duties & Responsibilities

Any project personnel conducting QC Activities such as: QC Inspector, Supervisor or Foremen

- Performs daily in-process and hold point inspections, measurements, and testing to confirm the quality of the work accomplished through submitting Daily Inspection Reports (DIR’s) to the QC Specialist or Manager

- QCI activities and hold point inspections are performed in accordance with:

o CPSSC Quality Standard Procedure QSP-09 “Quality Inspections and Plans” used in conjunction with QSP Form-09A Quality Inspection & Test Planning or

o Project Specific Quality or Inspection & Test Plan (ITP)

- Verify that any required skilled craft certifications are current and available

- If required by contract: conduct, evaluate and conduct hands on training of craft personnel performing abrasive blasting and paint application.

- Forward equipment and material certifications to the appropriate personnel.

- Inform project supervisor or foremen the results of each inspection and if corrections are required and what the corrections are needed.

- Forward any corrective actions or non-conformances to the QCS and CPSSC Project Team.


Technical Skills:

- Knowledge Quality Control principles and their application for Champion Operations


- Experience reviewing specifications, procedures, and plans

- Understanding the use and function of Quality Control Measuring & Testing Equipment (M&TE)

- Proficient use of an iPad to create TruQC Inspection Reports


Behavioral Skills:

- Ability to interact with individuals at all organizational levels; conducts themselves in a professional manner; actively listens to what others have to say and restates information to ensure understanding.

- Ability to apply organizational skills to handle multiple project activities simultaneously to meet deadlines.

- Maintain relationship with Owner’s QA Representative to help the project run smoothly.

- Resolve quality conflicts with Owner’s QA Representative or other project personnel directing excessive or unnecessary inspections outside the project requirements.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive material.

- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills


Physical Requirements:

- *Must have Visual Acuity of Near Side 20/20 using a Jaeger #1 and a Far Side of 20/20 either corrected or uncorrected in at least one eye

- *Ability to physically climb stairs, balance on scaffolding, kneel to access small areas, crouch into confined spaces and work in excessive heat and/or cold environments due to site visits

- Frequently lift and or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.

- Ability type on a keyboard and converse over a telephone

*As required by CPSSC Quality Standard Procedure QSP-02, Rev2 “QCI Training & Certification


Qualifications – QC Inspector

- 2+ years of experience within protective coatings industry in one or more of the following areas: qc inspector, supervisor, or foreman.

- Holds a current third-party coatings inspector certification at Level 1 Basic or higher through AMPP / NACE or SSPC

- Ability to travel as required and obtain job security badges such as DOD, DOE, TWIC, Nuclear, etc.

- OSHA 10 (30 is preferred) solid understanding of OSHA and industry specific regulations

- Working member of the project team as needed to achieve project goals

- Additional current certs are preferred and not required unless a job specific requirement for the QCS


 AMPP/SSPC C3/C5 Certification


 AMPP/SSPC CAS 2 Full

Qualifications – Project Supervisor or Foremen performing QC Activities

- *2+ years of experience within protective coatings industry as a supervisor or foreman

- *Training documents with 24 hours minimum of hands-on training, assessment & observation of key elements of measuring, testing and documenting in-process and final inspections for the surface preparation and application of protective coatings.

- Ability to travel as required and obtain job security badges such as DOD, DOE, TWIC, Nuclear, etc.

- OSHA 10 with understanding of OSHA and industry specific regulations

- Could be a routine member of the surface preparation and painting crew

- Additional current certs are preferred and not required unless a job specific requirement for the QCI


 AMPP/SSPC Basic Coating Inspector (Level 1)


 AMPP/SSPC CAS 2 Interim or Full

*As required in CPSSC Quality Assurance Manual (QAM), Section 1.0. Additional responsibilities are listed in this section of the QAM.


Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
