Now Hiring: Quality Control Inspector (2nd Shift) Bell Lumber & Pole Co. Location: Broken Bow, Oklahoma | 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Overtime as needed) $1/hour shift differential
Bell Lumber & Pole is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join our team. In this role, you’ll inspect treated utility poles to ensure they meet strict industry and customer standards. You’ll work closely with plant operations, supporting safety, quality, and performance across the yard.
- Inspect treated poles for compliance with ANSI, REA, AWPA, and customer specifications
- Identify defects and apply proper grading rules based on relevant standards
- Perform penetration and retention testing on treating charges
- Titrate treating solution as required
- Accurately complete and maintain inspection records and documentation
- Communicate inspection results with plant and quality leadership
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Collaborate with internal and independent quality inspectors
- Other yard duties as needed
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:- Experience working outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Previous quality control or inspection experience is a plus
- Strong understanding (or willingness to learn) ANSI, REA, AWPA, and ASTM standards
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Comfortable working around and on pole piles, including climbing ladders
- Solid math skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and record-keeping abilities
- Commitment to safety and proper PPE use
- Familiarity with inventory systems is helpful
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and is occasionally required to sit, talk and hear, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, infrequently lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment characteristics are best defined as an outdoor environment with exposure to elements such as heat, precipitation, wind. Employees will have moderate exposure to noise as heard in pole production yard, including exposure to higher noise levels associated with power equipment. Employee will have light exposure to the chemicals and solutions used in treating wood. The job may occasionally require overtime.
