The Foundry Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring all aspects of the ISO 9001 quality management system within the foundry ensuring that all castings meet or exceed customer specifications. This role involves leading quality control processes, inspection teams, continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating to resolve quality issues efficiently.
· Overseeing the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with ISO, ASTM, and customer-specific standards.
· Develop, implement and maintain quality plans and process control procedures to ensure castings meet all quality specifications and standards
· Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns, complaints, and corrective action requests.
· Supervise day-to-day quality assurance operations and staff within the foundry
· Oversee inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process and finished castings to ensure conformance to specifications.
· Collaborate and lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for process failures and casting defects
· Conduct internal audits, prepare for external customer and regulatory audits, and ensure compliance with all applicable industry standards.
· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality, scrap rates, and rework, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
· Train and mentor staff on quality standards, best practices, and continuous improvement methodologies.
· Review and approve quality documentation, including inspection reports, certifications, and customer compliance records.
Work Environment: This role is based in a foundry environment with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy machinery. The position requires both office-based documentation work and frequent presence on the production floor to supervise inspections and ensure compliance.
· Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field (or equivalent foundry/quality experience).
· 5+ years of experience in quality assurance within a foundry or heavy manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of metallurgical processes, casting defects, and testing methodologies.
· Experience with ISO 9001 or other relevant quality standards.
· Proficiency in root cause analysis, and continuous improvement tools
