Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Quality Assurance Engineer ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Quality Assurance Engineer will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy.

The general purpose of the Quality Engineer is to provide assistance to the Quality Manager by performing quality assurance activities as required. Must be proficient in processing PPAP’s, ISIR’s and all related APQP requirements as needed. Strong knowledge of SPC, Capability Studies and GD & T required. Assists with continuous improvement events as needed. CMM Lead Programmer and Training Facilitator. Fluent in Blueprint interpretation.

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school, and six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demand refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational tasks (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling).
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee on occasion will need to lift 10 to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more), Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point), Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), and the Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection is required. Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
