Key Project Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of QA/QC inspection or commissioning experience on mechanical systems within mission-critical, power generation, or industrial facilities.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including CRAC units and related infrastructure.
- Proficiency with QA documentation and tracking platforms such as Microsoft CX Compass, Nexus, or similar quality management tools.
- Familiarity with ASHRAE and NFPA standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and mechanical system testing and verification practices.
Job Summary
NAES is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical QAQC Engineer for a mission critical data center project in Texas. The QA/QC Engineer – Mechanical reports directly to the Project Manager, and will ensure that all mechanical systems are installed, tested, and functioning according to design specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. The QA/QC candidate will have a strong background in Louvers, HVAC, Chillers, plumbing, CRAC units, exhaust systems, and fire protection systems, as well as experience in high-reliability and clean environment
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Review mechanical system designs, submittals, and installation plans to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Perform and document field inspections for HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, fire protection, and CRAC system installations.
- Witness and verify mechanical system testing, ensuring all work meets quality and performance standards prior to turnover.
- Track and resolve non-conformance items (NCRs) and punch list issues within QA software such as Compass or Nexus.
- Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and commissioning teams to coordinate testing schedules, resolve quality issues, and verify completion of corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed QA/QC documentation, including inspection reports, test results, and turnover packages.
- Enforce project safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and compliance with ASHRAE, NFPA, and site-specific requirements.
- Support final QA/QC closeout and turnover to ensure all systems meet project and client acceptance criteria.
- Proven capability and comprehension of construction technologies, equipment, materials, and methods specific to this field.
- Experience in mechanical commissioning. Mandator in Mission Critical environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft’s CXPOR 8.2 or latest version, ASHRAE standards, NFPA codes, and commissioning best practices.
- Strong understanding of LOTO, Louvers, HVAC, chillers, plumbing, CRACs, and fire protection systems.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in commissioning software and CXPOR 8.2, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft CX Compass and Nexus.
- HS Diploma is required
- Certification in commissioning (e.g., ACG, BCA, NEBB) is a plus
