QA/QC Chemist Job Description

Job Summary:
The QA/QC Chemist will be responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of cosmetic and personal care products manufactured at ACT Labs. This role will conduct chemical and analytical testing, batch release evaluations, stability studies, and raw material inspections while ensuring compliance with FDA, GMP, MOCRA, ISO 22716, and international cosmetic regulations. The QA/QC Chemist will collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, R&D, and Production teams to uphold product quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control Testing & Batch Release:
•Conduct physical and chemical testing on raw materials, bulk formulations, and finished products and perform in process batch adjustments.
•Perform pH, viscosity, and density, evaluations to ensure consistency in product performance.
•Ensure batch production records are complete and accurate before product release.
•Maintain a retain sample library and document batch performance.
Compliance & GMP Adherence:
•Ensure compliance with MOCRA, FDA, California GMP, ISO 22716, and international cosmetic regulations (EU, Canada, UK, etc.).
•Perform GMP inspections and internal audits to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
•Maintain batch records, COAs, SDSs, and stability data for regulatory compliance.
•Participate in cGMP audits and ISO 22716 certification processes.
Deviation & Non-Conformance Investigations:
•Investigate batch failures, contamination, and customer complaints related to product quality.
•Assist in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) implementation to prevent recurrence.
•Work with Production, R&D, and Regulatory teams to troubleshoot formulation and processing issues.
Laboratory Management & Safety:
•Ensure lab equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and validated.
•Maintain an organized and compliant laboratory environment in accordance with GMP guidelines.
•Adhere to safety protocols for handling hazardous chemicals and flammable materials.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cosmetic Science, or a related field, preferred
•2-5 years of experience in Quality Control / Quality Assurance in cosmetics, personal care, or related industries.
•Experience with analytical techniques such as pH testing, viscosity measurement, and microbiological plating.
•Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs) and laboratory documentation.
•Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and provide recommendations for product quality improvement.
•Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: $25.00 - $32.00 per hour
