We are an internationally renowned industrial steel fabricator and steel bending company. Established in 1974, our company is in the Stoney Creek / Hamilton, Ontario area and boasts unique world-class equipment. We serve energy, resources, primary metals, marine, construction, transportation and environmental industries.
We have an immediate opportunity for a Quality Inspector with experience in Custom Fabrication and/or Custom Machining to be added to our team. Reporting to our Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector performs all aspects of our quality inspection requirements.
•· Sound knowledge of health and safety requirements.
•· Understand Kubes Group of Companies quality standards.
•· Be knowledgeable of customer requirements at contract review.
•· Ensure all internal and external customer quality requirements are met and monitor supplier performance on quality and delivery.
•· Maintain quality standards though in process and final inspections and documentation.
•· Audit and maintain existing ISO 9001 and CWB standards.
•· Coach employees on company and customer quality procedures.
•· Maintain all required calibration requirements for QA tools.
•· Responsible for final release of shipment and required quality documentation.
•· Maintain the quality standard to eliminate customer complaints.
•· Improve quality systems at receiving, in process and shipping.
•· The position may have a role in TSSA and ASME accreditation.
•· Other duties as required.
•· Experience within a custom steel fabrication and/or custom machining environment.
•· Personable when dealing with employees, customers and suppliers.
•· Knowledge of industry welding standards.
•· CWB Level 1 inspection credentials would be an asset.
•· Progressive experience in quality assurance/control that has led to an intermediate level position.
•· Post Secondary education or related experience industry experience equivalent in a welding and machining environment.
•· Code experience in ISO, CWB and ASME would be an asset.
•· NDE experience would be an asset.
•· Must be professional, organized, dedicated, and extremely detail oriented.
•· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate technical and non-technical information to all levels of an organization and externally.
•· Able to demonstrate competent hands-on problem-solving skills.
•· Proven ability to write technical documentation / inspection reports.
•· Understand / comprehension of multi format documents such as material specification drawings
•· Proficient computer user with at minimum intermediate level MS Office skills in Excel and Word.
•· Ability to change shifts to workday and afternoon shifts when necessary.
•· The physical requirements of this position include the ability to lift and the ability to bend, crawl or climb, if necessary, for inspection.
•· Equally comfortable working on the plant floor and in an office environment.
•· A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
•· Measuring new assemblies & recording data.
•· Cleaning of pipe assemblies.
•· Labeling of pipe assemblies
•· Packaging & shipping duties.
•· Random quality inspections of ongoing jobs
The successful candidate will be provided with a very competitive benefits package after their first three months with the company. And a DPSP matched contribution retirement plan at 6 months up to 5%.
A candidate who has credentials and education in QA is preferred. 2 year Mohawk Program/CINDE certs.
