We’re looking for experienced Protection & Control (P&C) Field Technicians and Engineers
to join our fast-growing team supporting high-voltage infrastructure projects across the U.S. In this role, you'll test, troubleshoot, and commission protection and control relays, pilot channel systems, and substation equipment in commercial, industrial, and utility environments. This is a hands-on position that requires strong technical expertise, independence, and the ability to travel frequently.
What You’ll Do
- Test protection and control relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor), including voltage/current inputs, SCADA alarms, and calibration
- Troubleshoot and repair substation relaying and control equipment in field environments
- Commission new substations and related systems, including pilot wire, power line carrier, fiber optics, and communication/control systems
- Schedule and complete test activities efficiently and accurately without service interruptions
- Support field service personnel and maintain documentation aligned with client specifications
- Read, interpret, and execute tasks using electrical drawings and wiring schematics
- Follow strict safety and PPE usage protocols due to noise, electrical hazards, and elevated work areas- 5+ years of experience in relay testing, commissioning, and substation relaying/control repair - 5+ years of leadership experience in project execution, relay settings coordination, or system integration
- Familiarity with SCADA, SER, fault data, and automation systems
- Proficient in test equipment, software tools, and wiring techniques
- Ability to interpret electrical diagrams with accuracy
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
- Willingness to travel 50% or more, including overnight stays and weekend/holiday availability
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must pass a background check and drug/alcohol screening
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, at elevations over 100 ft, and in confined spaces
- Available for extended and irregular hours as needed
- Annual safety training and occasional out-of-state travel for compliance
- Requires good vision, hearing, and English proficiency for safe, effective communication in noisy environments
- Associate's or bachelor’s degree in electrical technology, Power Systems, or Mechanical Engineering
- Hands-on experience with relay testing software, fault analysis, or advanced P&C diagnostic tools
- Experience working with utilities, substations, and complex P&C systems
- Previous experience mentoring or leading field teams
