Energy Services - Project Mechanical Engineer, EPC Projects
The Project Mechanical Engineer, EPC Projects is responsible for overseeing the engineering, procurement, and construction phases of mechanical systems for large-scale projects focusing on power generation and/or process facilities. This role ensures that mechanical designs, equipment, and installations meet project specifications, standards, and timelines. The Project Mechanical Engineer, EPC Projects collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams, including design engineers, procurement, contractors, and clients, to deliver successful and cost-effective project outcomes.
- Review and interpret mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications; assist senior project engineer with approvals (schedule/cost).
- Provide technical input during design, conducting technical and commercial evaluations of mechanical systems, engineering documentation, including design reports and technical submittals.
- Act as single point of contact for all EPC project/proposal mechanical engineering.
- Specify and evaluate mechanical materials and equipment; ensure timely delivery.
- Review supplier technical documentation for compliance with standards and project requirements.
- Supervise on-site mechanical installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Resolve technical issues and provide engineering support during construction.
- Ensure all mechanical work adheres to local and international standards.
- Conduct inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests, and Site Acceptance Tests for mechanical systems.
- Verify compliance with safety standards, and ensure all activities meet EH&S regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, other discipline engineers, and subcontractors to align construction activities with overall project goals.
- Provide progress updates and technical reports to stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing documentation for project handover, including as-built drawings and operation manuals.
· Familiarity with PFD, P&IDs, and mass and energy balances
· Familiar with mechanical equipment sizing and selection, such as pumps, valves, heaters, etc.
· Able to interpret mechanical installation drawings and specifications
· Proficiency in mechanical design software including AutoCAD and 3D modeling
· Strong knowledge of mechanical codes and standards, specifically ASME B&PV, ASME B31, API, IEEE
· Familiarity with power plant piping systems and designs
· Experience with combustion turbine or steam turbine desired
· Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
· Ten-plus years of experience in mechanical engineering within EPC projects, preferably in Oil & Gas, energy, power generation, or infrastructure industries
· Combination of office and on-site work at construction locations
· Frequent travel to project sites, including remote or international locations
· Exposure to challenging environments, including high-voltage areas and harsh conditions
