MAIN PURPOSE: To lead and execute crane service projects by combining expert-level mechanical skills with strategic project management, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery. This role serves as the primary client liaison and on-site leader, responsible for hands-on technical work, team supervision, and full project lifecycle management in alignment with Altrad Sparrows’ operational standards.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Management:
•Manage crane service projects from kickoff to closeout, including planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting.
•Serve as the primary liaison between the client and internal teams.
•Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
•Coordination of Project Kick-Off Meetings (internal and external) to ensure successful start to new Projects.
•Partner with Procurement, Fabrication and Design to ensure appropriate quotation including project plan/schedule.
•Coordination between various Support Departments (i.e. Design, Supply Chain, Engineering and Fab/Assy Workshops) to manage project functions thru completion
•Ensure compliance with Altrad Sparrows’ quality, safety, and operational standards.
•Maintain accurate and timely documentation including time tracking, job certifications, and project reports.
•Project Financial Management Ownership to ensure that Project Financials stay within Business Group Targets set at the beginning of new Crane Projects.
Technical Leadership:
•Troubleshoot, repair, and replace defective crane and mechanical components.
•Fabricate or modify parts as needed during maintenance or overhaul.
•Perform and oversee routine and preventive maintenance on crane systems.
•Lead by example in the field, demonstrating top-tier mechanical skills and safety practices.
Team Leadership & Training:
•Supervise and mentor A, B, and C level mechanics/millwrights.
•Provide on-the-job training and ensure team adherence to best practices.
•Coordinate with internal departments to ensure proper staffing and equipment availability.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
•10+ years of experience as a mechanic or technician that lines up with the needs of the projects they are responsible for.
•3+ years of experience in project management or supervisory roles
•Proven ability to manage complex projects in field-based settings.
•Experienced in quotation, estimation and market analysis and data review in industry
•Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
•Ability to perform tasks independently, with minimum supervision, as well as within a team environment, self-starter
•Must have mechanical, hydraulic and/or diesel experience that’s applicable to the projects
•Ability to multi-task and effectively manage work across multiple projects.
•Experience working in service industry directly with clients, contracts, and project management
•Required to travel to job sites, including remote locations, on a regular basis
