Programmer/Machinist

Position Title: 5-Axis CNC Programmer / Machinist

Machine Time Inc. is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Programmer / Level 3 Machinist to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, high-impact role responsible for complex part programming, advanced setups, and process optimization on 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining centers. You will work closely with production leadership to improve workflows, reduce cycle times, and maintain quality standards in a fast-paced, precision manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Program complex parts using advanced CAD/CAM software (NX strongly preferred) for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining centers

- Create setup sheets and tool lists to ensure repeatability and efficient machine utilization

- Perform advanced machine setups and verify programs through simulation and first-article inspections

- Optimize feeds, speeds, and tool paths to improve cycle times and extend tool life

- Lead troubleshooting of machining processes, workholding, and program issues

- Collaborate with engineering and quality to ensure parts meet drawing and 3D model requirements

- Train and mentor machinists/operators on best practices for 5-axis machining and complex setups

- Maintain and document work orders, time, and material usage within our production system

- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ITAR, AS9100 and other regulatory or customer requirements

Required Qualifications

- Extensive experience programming and setting up 5-axis CNC machines (mills and/or mill-turns)

- Proficiency with CAD/CAM systems, preferably Siemens NX CAM

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and 3D models

- Proven track record of meeting production rates and driving process improvements

- High school diploma or GED

- Ability to lift 50 lbs.

- Preferred Qualifications

- Aerospace and/or precision manufacturing background

- Knowledge of ITAR, AS9100, and lean manufacturing principles

- Familiarity with multi-axis probing and in-process inspection techniques

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

- Effectively share knowledge

- Ability to independently program and produce complex CNC parts

- CNC milling & CAM programming experience

- CAD/CAM software proficiency

- Lean/TPM experience

- Startup/small business experience

- ++NX CAM programming experience

Physical Requirements

- Experience in CNC manufacturing

- Consistently meets shop production rates

- High School diploma or GED

- Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Compensation:

- Pay: $30 - $45/hr. (based on skill level and experience)
