Scotia Recycling Limited (SRL), a member of the Scotia Investments Limited (SIL) family of companies, is an operator of Atlantic Canada’s leading recycling facilities located in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. With an approximate workforce of 200 dedicated employees, we specialize in the collection, processing, sales, and brokerage of recyclable materials, and are a proven industry leader that have been in operation since 1976. We are currently seeking a Production Worker to join our growing team.
Working on a raised platform, sorting recyclable materials off of a conveyor into bins and chutes. Each station on the production line is responsible for two to three classifications of products with some classifications overlapping to another production line station. This position is responsible to sort their assigned products at their assigned station and work as a team. Every Production Line Worker shall be trained on each station and shall rotate through each station on a regular basis. Working safely to achieve production goals in a team environment. Clean as you go philosophy.

- Work in safe and efficient manner and strive to increase production.
- Must be able to move products and materials by hand or with material handling equipment in an efficient and careful manner.
- Must be aware of surroundings and be alert.
- Help with bales when needed.
- Visual inspections and responsible to report any deficiencies, damage with equipment including pre-shift reports on daily basis.
- Report all incidents/accidents and illness immediately to a supervisor.
- Must wear required PPE and adhere to all safety regulations and policies/procedures.
- Must keep work area tidy and clean (no clutter), ensuring the area around their feet is clear and tools are put away.
- Takes a positive approach to work assignments and treats co-workers, customers and management with tact and respect.
- Must follow all company Policies and Regulations.
- All other duties assigned by supervisor that are safe and reasonable.
- Ability to bend, stand and walk for extended periods of time, some twisting, squatting, lifting and climbing.
- Possesses hand eye coordination.
- Ability to understand written or oral instructions.
- Ability to learn repetitive duties quickly and carry them through independently.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold weather and able to complete light to medium work (periodically lifting up to 30 lbs).
- Satisfactory Criminal Background check is a condition of employment.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an industrial building, at times amid noise levels (under 85 dBA), moving mechanical parts, in conditions such as high humidity, odours, dust and exposure to hot and cold temperatures. Some work is outside, in all weather conditions.
