Production Technicians focus on improving production by ensuring the safe and effective operation of process and utility equipment. This includes performance monitoring, completing start-up/shut down, and preparing equipment for maintenance/inspection in accordance with Cenovus Energy policies and procedures. Adhering to regulatory requirements and offshore industry standards is required to achieve established objectives in the safest, most productive, and cost-effective manner possible. The ideal candidate would have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with high functioning teams, great planning and organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
This position will be based offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in year 2025 Q3. This is a full-time, permanent position working offshore 12-hours per day on a 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off rotation.
- Carry out safe and optimum operation of FPSO processing facilities by monitoring and controlling processing equipment, protective systems (Fire & Gas, ESD) and all support systems according to established procedures. Allocation to areas of the FPSO facilities, as required, and maintaining daily logbooks regarding these areas
- Ensure a high standard of housekeeping and safe work practices, while always protecting the environment. Ensure all work control processes are adhered daily
- Identify plant, equipment, and process isolations within the bounds of the Permit to Work system and implementation of Mechanical Isolations
- Take actions to prevent or rectify abnormal plant and production situations. Conduct routine rounds of the production and turret facilities
- Perform first line maintenance, within designated limits of competence, and report faults on plant/equipment to improve plant availability
- Area Authority under Permit to Work System for all process areas on the FPSO
- Supervise routine discharges such as produced water, to ensure they meet regulatory requirements
- Learn and understand the roles and responsibilities of the Control Room Operator. Production Technicians are expected to progress to competent control room operator status
- Participate in emergency response (ER) activities and training as required and/or requested. Perform fire team and heli-deck team duties as required
- Participate in the onboard Safety Awareness Program
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- 4th class power engineering certificate of competency or technologist/industrial/marine certification process operations engineering technology diploma or equivalent work in an Operator role on a production facility
- Related experience in oil and gas, industrial settings, or relevant preferred
- Effective knowledge of Process & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Experience with permit to work systems and/or Distributed Control Systems and computerized control/safety systems preferred but not mandatory

This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing.
You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, therefore you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.
