About the Role

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Production Team Lead (PTL) for process area is responsible for safe and reliable operation of the LNG trains and has overall responsibility for process safety, personal safety, environmental performance, adherence to production targets, and shift team management in process area.


The process trains make up LNG Canada’s main cryogenic process containing 4 aero derivative turbines driving 4 multistage centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, high energy multi-stage pumps. Heat exchangers, vessels, and all associated auxiliary equipment.

You will use your expertise to:

During commissioning and start-up Phase (including asset owner readiness activities, commissioning, start up and ramp up):

Lead and/or contribute to operations readiness delivery for Train #2:
+ Review operations procedures and work instructions + Imbed ESP process and tools + Ensure competence and compliance to PtW work process
Back up for Production Supervisor responsibilities during early operation period on as needed basis



In the operating Unit (Train #1)



Production Assurance:


Form shift leadership team with Production Supervisor and Common Facilities PTL
Lead the shift team of panel and field operators to ensure that LNG train operate within the safe limits all the time and produce LNG and condensate on spec and as per production plan
Act as the subject matter expert on LNG process and process area operations within the shift and provide help in troubleshooting and optimization of the process
Verify and assure routine and proactive monitoring tasks conducted by control room operators and field operators of their area, ensure exceedances are acted upon by the shift team or suitably escalated
Jointly lead the shift team meeting and ensure the daily production and activity plan for the process area and daily tasks are clear to the team
Verify the end of shift report input made by panel and field operators to ensure high quality shift report and effective shift handover
Ensure alignment between process and common facilities PTL’s to make certain that the shift activities are in line with the overall plan for the day and SIMOPS risks to the production plan are minimized
Deliver the daily operatiing instructions and where not able provide clear explanation.



People and Development:

Accountable to ensure that shift teams are managed in accordance with applicable LNG Canada Human Resources policies
Accountable for ensuring individual training plans for team members are followed and deviations from plan are followed up on with training department
Provide regular performance feedback to shift team members and initiate performance improvement process to address performance issues and ensure consequence management is delivered promplty, consistenly and appropiately for all underperformance and non-compliance
Ensure recognition program is in place, is sustainable and is utilized to positively influence individual performance
Execute cross discipline activities and instill a cross-discipline culture in the operations shift team. The discipline activities will include electrical, instrument, mechanical, rotating and civil activities amongst others. The workscope will include as a minimum electrical isolation, instrument isolation and mechanical isolation next to core preventative and corrective maintenance work scope
Ensure development needs of all members of their team are addressed and competence requirements are kept up to date
Manage the well being of their production team members and address all people issues such as leave and overtime etc. effectively
Ensure Operations and Maintenance multiskilling capabilities are developed in partnership with Training and Learning departments
Support the development of digitization as a way of working within the Production organization and use influencing skills to drive the use of digital tools
Model inclusive collaboration skills at all times to foster a “one site” team across all disciplines, cultures and skill levels ensuring all are heard, understood and valued



HSSE and Process Safety:

Ensure all safety incidents and trip events within the shift are duly reported through LNGC incident management system, and recorded in the shift log and preliminary 5-why analysis is completed to ensure high quality reporting
Ensure all reporting on environmental compliance targets for air, water and land.
Review, challenge, understand and when appropriate, approve any alarms which are shelved and any overrides on safeguarding systems or safety critical equipment as per LNG Canada procedures
Ensure that operations procedures and safe work practices (both personal and process safety) are continuously improved by incorporating field experience after every use
Ensure all necessary permits for upcoming activities in their area are prepared in time and are high quality
Review and approve PtW as per with LNG Canada PtW Manual
Lead by example by demonstrating excellent HSE and ESP compliance behaviours and ensure MOC process is followed in case of an exception or deviation
Instil a high situational awareness and safety culture in the shift staff by ensuring the use of the HSE case, up-to-date isolation records, override registers, temporary plant change register, PTW compliance, valve locks compliance and job safety analysis etc.
Ensure that all necessary consumables of their production area such as hoses, chemicals, emergecy response equipment, spill kit etc. are adequate at all times and are fit for service
Ensure all operational tools and equipment such as field tools, handheld devices, radios, PPEs etc. for their team are fit for service at all times
In case of an emergency, lead the first intervention team in the field in line with LNG Canada ER Manual

15+ years experience at the front line operations in Gas Processing, LNG or Refining including several years of shift leadership experience
Minimum Class 4 Power Engineer Certification
Experience in CSU phase large Turnarounds, Large/Mega Projects
Previous experience in similar role, especially in LNG or large scale refinery/manufacturing complex will be advantageous
Physical fitness for sustained field work (including but not limited to) confined space entry, climbing ladders, working at elevated platforms and structures etc.
Ability to keep calm under pressure, with an aptitude for troubleshooting issues and tracking down resources
The incumbent needs to be a positive, open minded person with a ‘can-do’ attitude, perserverance to deliver, resilience to combat difficulties and challenges, ability to make practical ALARP decisions and deliver safe and compliant operations through the teamGood computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
Strong presentation and facilitation skills
Strong personal commitment to personal and process safety
Good organization and task management skills



This role requires that you:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada (i.e., by way of Canadian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work permit)
Live in the beautiful District of Stikine (Kitimat/Terrace). For applicants located outside of the region, this role will result in temporarily relocating to Kitimat, in which accommodations will be provided by LNG Canada. Are willing to comply with LNGC’s drug-free and harassment-free work environment and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
Undergo a pre-placement medical assessment of your fitness for duty, and Pre-Site Access testing for alcohol and specified drugs.
Know that during Campaign Maintenance and Turnaround events will require additional effort including longer hours and shift work
May act as back up for Production Supervisor when needed
Up to 15 direct reports including panel operators, field operators and specialist contractor staff on shift.
Are willing to work outdoors during inclement weather in all seasons including heavy snowfall and periods of heavy rain.
Can climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces. Plant design conditions provide structures that are significantly taller than common in industry, individuals must be comfortable with heights
Can work wearing a respirator or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
Have a Valid Driver’s license
Know that this is not a fly-in, fly-out rotation role.
This is a ROTATING Shift role.
Target to start date is September 2, 2025.
