The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Production Superintendent to join our team in the Copper Cliff Smelter Department based in Sudbury, Ontario.
This is a permanent on-site position, working rotational shift schedule (12-hour shifts).
The Production Superintendent is directly accountable for the shift Smelter production plan. As such, this role has the authority of the Manager to apply resources on-shift to deliver the production plan on a shift-to-shift basis.
Additionally, in this position you will:
•Manage day-to-day plant operations to achieve zero harm to employees, the business, environment, and community, while meeting production quality and quantity targets and maximizing economic resources.
•Execute shift production and maintenance plans, approve deviations, and direct resources to meet production targets, with authority to apply resources on-shift to deliver the production plan.
•Ensure safe behaviors are exhibited by all crew members, coach supervisors on consistently reducing risk, and take corrective action when necessary to address noncompliance.
•Coach and counsel supervisors on standards of behavior, discipline, and grievance management, and take corrective actions as required.
•Audit supervisor compliance with monthly safety plans, Incident Management (IM) process, policy/procedure reviews, Management of Change (MOC) system, and other safety systems and processes, and execute monthly safety plans.
•Perform On Scene Coordinator duties in emergencies as per the Copper Cliff Complex Emergency and Fire Safety Manuals.
•Manage issues escalated by shift supervisors, update forecasts, and escalate concerns when plans or forecasts will not be achieved, ensuring proactive problem-solving and timely decision-making.
•Provide performance feedback to shift supervisors, contribute to succession planning, and support implementation of new systems and processes, including guidance, auditing, mentoring, and analysis support to the management team.
•Provide crew supervision as required.
About You
Education:
•Post-secondary education in trades, engineering, or related technical area
Experience:
•Minimum 8 years of combined supervisory and industrial experience
•Preferred business and process knowledge of mineral and/or pyrometallurgical processing
Skills:
•Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
•Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
•Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
•Must demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
•Must have proven supervisory and leadership skills.
