Basic Function: The Production Material Coordinator ensures the timely and accurate flow of materials to support production schedules. This role coordinates material movement between departments, monitors inventory levels, and conducts quality checks on incoming and in-process materials to ensure they meet specifications. The coordinator works closely with purchasing, production, and logistics teams to prevent shortages, minimize excess inventory, and maintain efficient, high-quality manufacturing operations.
- Uses forklift, order picker, pallet jack and similarly related equipment to move, prepare and stage inventory for production needs.
- Implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle and spot counts.
- Collaborates with others to plan, schedule, and prioritize production operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.
- Validates bill of materials (BOMs) are correct and complete for stock orders and builds, notifies Engineering per any change order(s) or discrepancies discovered.
- Assist with receiving and inspecting incoming, outgoing, and in-process materials to ensure quality and accuracy, documents and reports results.
- Identifies and supports continuous improvement efforts in material flow, inventory accuracy, and procurement processes to improve operational efficiency.
- Assists in identifying potential supply chain disruptions, resolves issues as needed.
- Assists with the development and documentation of standardized procedures related to inventory and material handling.
- Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems, and all related information necessary for effective management.
- Performs all other duties as apparent or assigned.
- Attends training as determined by GNE.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of materials management experience or planning role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a process-oriented operation and/or related industry.- Working knowledge and experience with MS Office and ERP Systems.
- Outgoing, Professional demeanor.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Solid PC skills, spreadsheet development abilities and working knowledge of designated software.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Prior professional experience within an ISO 9001 certified organization.
- Experience working with international vendors and customers a plus.
- Proven negotiating skills.
