Lone Star Downhole Products (LSDP Manufacturing) is a precision manufacturing company specializing in CNC machining, rubber molding, and fabrication. As we continue to expand, we’re looking for a hands-on, process-driven Production Manager with deep CNC experience to take ownership of day-to-day production, streamline operations, and lead our team to the next level of efficiency and quality.
You’ll oversee all production activity across the shop floor — with a primary focus on CNC machining — while ensuring coordination with supporting departments like deburr, molding, fabrication, and shipping. The right person will be a seasoned machinist turned leader who knows how to build discipline, motivate people, and create repeatable, efficient systems that scale with growth.
This is a key leadership role for someone who can balance big-picture production strategy with hands-on floor leadership.
:
- Lead and manage the CNC, molding, and fabrication production teams to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
- Set clear expectations and hold machinists and leads accountable for quality, efficiency, and attendance.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to machinists and operators at all skill levels.
- Collaborate with HR and ownership on recruiting, onboarding, and cross-training efforts to maintain a strong, versatile team.
- Oversee and optimize the production schedule to ensure on-time delivery and balanced machine utilization.
- Prioritize jobs based on deadlines, materials, and capacity — minimizing bottlenecks and idle time.
- Work closely with programming and engineering to verify manufacturability, setups, and tooling before release to production.
- Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for setups, inspections, and part handling.
- Review and verify first-article inspections, ensuring dimensional accuracy and quality conformance.
- Work with Quality Control to address nonconformances, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Continuously refine machining processes for cycle time reduction, improved tool life, and higher repeatability.
- Ensure new employees are properly trained on safety, quality, and process standards before running production work.
- Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) — including on-time delivery, scrap/rework rate, machine utilization, and throughput.
- Regularly analyze production data to identify inefficiencies or recurring issues.
- Provide weekly production reports and recommendations directly to ownership.
- Lead short daily huddles and weekly planning meetings to align the team on goals and priorities.
- Ensure all machines and tooling are properly maintained and production-ready.
- Coordinate with maintenance for preventive schedules and urgent repairs.
- Work with purchasing to ensure availability of raw materials, inserts, cutters, and fixtures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company policies.- 7+ years of CNC machining experience (lathes and/or mills), with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Deep technical knowledge of G-code, setups, tooling selection, feeds/speeds, and precision tolerancing.
- Proven ability to manage production teams, balance workloads, and meet deadlines in a job shop or small-batch environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose machining, setup, and workflow issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — able to motivate a diverse team and maintain accountability.
- Experience working with ERP or job tracking systems (e.g., JobBOSS, ProShop, E2, or similar) preferred.
