About This Job


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Drive Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify, develop, and implement design enhancements that boost manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability.

- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Liaise with Manufacturing, Service, Sales, and Quality teams to ensure seamless hand‑offs and smooth integration of design changes.

- Standards & Processes: Own and uphold our engineering standards — maintain checklists for sub‑assemblies, enforce CAD/data standards, and follow all established PDM and ERP workflows.

- Documentation & Control: Update and release SolidWorks drawings in the latest company format; manage part files and metadata in SolidWorks PDM; ensure accurate BOM and ERP data in Epicor.


PROJECT-BASED RESPONSIBILITIES

- Pre‑Engineering Analysis: Review sales orders and pre‑sales deliverables to flag potential design issues before detail work begins.

- Reference Selection: Identify and adapt optimal reference projects to accelerate new designs and maintain consistency.

- Technical Meetings & Site Visits: Represent Engineering at project kick‑offs, pre‑installation reviews, and installation debriefs; participate in onsite pre‑engineering visits to customer mine sites as required.

- CAD & Release: Develop new layouts and detailed drawings in AutoCAD; model and refine assemblies and components in SolidWorks; release accurate documentation according to our change‑control process.

- Engineering Calculations: Perform required analyses — from hand‑calculations to custom Excel tools — and coordinate FEA or other advanced simulations as needed.

- Project Close‑Out: Archive all project files and notes (digital and hard‑copy), track manufacturing/installation progress, and support post‑installation updates or corrective improvements.


QUALIFICATIONS

- Education & Experience:

- - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent).

- 2+ years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally related to heavy equipment or industrial machinery.

- Technical Proficiency:

- - CAD Tools: SolidWorks (with PDM), AutoCAD; familiarity with drawing standards and template management.

- Analysis & Office Software: Excel, Mathcad, etc…

- ERP Systems: Ability to maintain accurate part data in Epicor; prior Epicor experience preferred.

- Core Competencies:

- - Strong organizational skills with an aptitude for creating and executing efficient processes.

- Excellent written and verbal communication—capable of translating technical details for both internal teams and field personnel.

- Basic understanding of welding and fabrication processes.

- Nice‑to‑Haves:

- - Formal FEA or Solidworks Simulation experience.

- Prior exposure to SolidWorks PDM Professional.
